This happened at 150 when the core and steel were going up. There was some initial up and downs between the steel and the core even after the core and trusses were above level 9.

I know the steel erector and concrete subs and have worked with them before. The erector likes to have a 3 floor spread between the floor they are erecting and the bottom of the trailing platform on the core form.

There might be some slow down due to the boom of the barge crane not wanting to be blocked but that wouldn't make much sense as he have the Favco on site.

The floors aren't typical either right now. Once they get into their typical floor-to-floor height the core and steel will be on top of one another.

Yeah. I don't think it an issue with the barge crane. If I had to guess the only reason its still there now is to set the columns along the river.

Looked like they were pouring concrete today so probably another jump maybe tomorrow or Saturday. Probably back on track now...seeing as they jumped it last week. By the time they have the columns set along the river and all the decking in, the core will probably be at a point where the building can start really flying up

Is it just me or does this crane seem much bigger than most we see?

Interesting. Good info. I always thought those tower cranes were electric. Admittedly though I don't know much about them.

Yeah these days they commonly are electric (Terex/Potain/Liebherr) but those Favco's (Link-Belt Tower cranes too) are diesel, the only reason (I'm pretty sure) that they're still around is because you get more lifting power with a diesel engine (this crane is like 100 ton capacity and its not even the biggest Favco makes)

I know New York (east coast) uses the diesel type cranes more rather than the electric ones. This is also the same model crane that was used at 150 N Riverside.

^ That appears so because New York is building many more large office buildings which have heavy steel work.

They utilize the smaller, electric Potain/Liebherr tower cranes on cast in place apartment/condo projects just as often as we do.

Last week a little birdie told me the trident beams should start going up later this week. Hope to get more solid coming in the next day or so. If I'm going to bundle up and go shoot in this cold, I want to make sure it's worth my time, ha.

I bet a crane jump will come this week as well. I'd imagine they have to jump the crane before they jump the core formwork.
