This is kind of an msn convo spilling over into the forum.

I know what it feels like to not know what is going on, I seem to be perpetually confused. I got yelled at over the phone by a Finnish woman today because I could barely understand her accent and needed her to repeat her street name three times. Sometimes my brain just doesn't want to work. Too much aspartame I guess.

Luckily you're still thirty years away from talking to empty chairs on live national television.

He admits it. I was expecting him to say "I am not your sweet baboo!!" and instead he just said "yeah, for now".

I have to at least live old enough to get to your current age, so yes?

I bought a new camera, but its one of those "bridge" cameras like my Canon Powershot S5 IS (or whatever the camera segment between point-and-shoots and SLRs is called). I don't trust myself enough to handle a DSLR and for the first time ever, I'm deviating from Canon (they've gotten too expensive, IMO). Just ordered a Fujifilm Finepix S4200...

It's just a point-and-shoot with better zoom. My grandpa has the S2980, it's a decent camera but aside from the zoom, it isn't any better than my Samsung ES80.

DSLRs take practice but after a little while you start to get a better handle on them.

I'm not looking for anything super tech-y, just an upgrade from my previous camera at a somewhat decent price.

But per that "Is photography art" discussion in Skybar, I'm exactly the kind of person that devalues the art form by just owning a camera. That, and I have little time outside work to actually do any photo shoots (or rather, I don't have enough time to improve my craft and learn the ins and outs of a DSLR).

Its a stupid hobby for me to pursue, but I need something when I'm not working. Besides, I'm going to NYC next May (as well as Bermuda) and I want a camera that has better options and capabilities than what I'm using right now.

centropolis transport device docked in kansas city landspace. kansas city is under-rated. it just kind of hangs out on the edge of the midwest doing its own thing almost in the vacuum of its own universe while at the same time feeling somewhat fresh - doesnt quite have the weighty-ness of a hardcore midwestern industrial city. plains people are good looking.

I say hopefully you start ranting at empty chairs sooner. And put it on YouTube.

Congrats to your parents (who don't look Iowan at all). Mine just had their 40th. How I have no idea.

Exploring old mines is fun.
