I don't get it. The LC are big, flashy stores. Neon lights and such. 'Dispensaries' are being placed in back rooms basically. Silly..

Yeah it's absurd. Tokyo Smoke doesn't even have weed on display – it's designed like a coffee shop – you would never even know it was a dispensary.

Look at their Queen West location for example. Could be Fools + Horses:

^ It's annoying. The provincial government is still in reefer madness mode when it comes to legalization.

I'm going to email the mayor and a few councillors about it today. You should all too.

Ive never smoked weed in my life but this fear of pot is absurd. If they imposed those rules on booze, I could at least call them consistent. One day, we'll look back on this and laugh at it, when weed is sold in a similar way to booze.

They should have had it be sold through the Liquor Marts.

Agree on the first point, but I'm very glad they didn't put it in the Liqour Marts. The government doesn't need to be in the retail business, this isn't Cuba. Much better to create a bunch of new business ventures and fill storefronts across the city than to just expand the Liqour Mart presence. Also they need the pricing to be competitive or people will just continue to buy it from illegal sources or grow it themselves. I'm assuming it's a lot harder to keep your prices competitive when you have union staff making $20/hour just to work a cash register.

I love how when MLCC prices come up it's always the fault of the worker making a reasonable wage as opposed to the executive making the exorbitant wage...

^ Does anyone at MLCC actually make an exorbitant salary? It's not like they're paying their CEO a million dollars.

We should be celebrating cannabis isn't being sold by Liquor Marts.

I actually found out from people high up in MLLC that they actually expected to be having to handle retail of weed here. And while lots of people assumed they would because.. Manitoba... the reason they weren't tasked with it was because of Pallister's very conservative (read: Christian) values. He's against legalizing weed, and it went against his personal values for the government to be selling and approving of it. Same can be said of many sitting PCs.

This person said it's nothing short of a miracle that we ended up in the middle of the pack (or better) in terms of "lax" restrictions around the country.

Pallister's very conservative (read: Christian) values will change very quickly if Cannabis starts becoming a cash cow for the Government.

265 Osborne

Fencing went up around this property today. Looks like they're going to take one of the lanes too which sucks for my commute home. I guess the medium rise apartment building is a go.

Barricades up this morning. Here's hoping they're removed for evening rush hour.

Looks like After Dark (former Billabong) is closing.

I've got to imagine Gong Cha is kicking itself for taking the less-desirable upstairs location rather than this much better one...
