I didn't know until now that there was a plan to complete the interchange between 8 and 401.

That plans have existed for awhile now. I even remember back in the 1990s about all of the complaints of traffic along King Street. I remember about 6-8 years ago the MTO released their plans and it sounded as though it was going ahead very soon. But obviously the funding never came through.

The plans from 2011 coincided with the development of an adjacent subdivision to the south of the highway. I think they went through planning at that time to ensure they could protect sufficient enough property from the subdivision to ensure they could build the ramp connection in the future.

Somehow the truck jumped the median and had a head-on collision. It really reminded me of the apocalyptic scene on the 400 last year...

Funny enough, I went to Walmart at Promenade, and sensed absolutely nothing about it (other than the fact that 77A Express came out from Centre Street instead of Yonge Street).

This is actually my first time watching a video of a fatal collision unfolding.

This is a crazy accident.

Imagine being the eastbound motorist. You're cruising down the 407 belting out the lyrics to your favourite song and then all of a sudden a tanker trucks lands on you and explodes.

There were endings in Final Destination that were less horrifying than that.

According to OPP investigation though, both vehicles were actually westbound. Then for reasons yet to be known, the truck lost control, brought the car with it, and both jumped the barrier and landed on the other side.

It is nonetheless still horrifying.

401 EB after 412 is always bad during PM rush. Am I the only one that feels that 412 was built to no purpose?

People on Urban Toronto Forum reported that HOV lanes on 410 are ready to go.

The barrels are still blocking off the northbound lane:

*edit* The southbound lane is definitely open though.

Wrong-Way Vehicles

https://www.baytoday.ca/local-news/d...-month-1115144

Are people not used to 4-lane divides highways or something (other than impairment)?

A very old video

Having 4 trucks in front of anyone with no passing lanes in sight = Don't even bother...

An up to date video of the 410:

Video Link

* edit * what's funny is that this was filmed around midnight last night and features the northbound HOV lane still closed. The northbound HOV lane appears to have opened this morning.

Has anyone driven over the Nipigon River Bridge since September? Did they open all four lanes before the snow set in?

I was wondering that too. Also the more pressing question: who’s paying for the repair (read: fiasco)?

I'm not sure. I know that the twinning is 100% open from Red Rock 9 to Nipigon. I've not been past the turn-off into Nipigon in the last three weeks. I'll be up that way next week though and let you all know.

Note to those interested: Hydro line relocation work is continuing around Dorion and Ouimet, as well as in Hurkett. Also a home along 11-17 west of Pearl was removed in the last little bit as well - it was in the the planned highway right-of-way.

Perhaps the $83M from the feds in 2017 couldn’t be transferred to the Kenora corridor, so PC decided to use it to do minimal work for now?
