Coronation Park developer open house was earlier this month, presentation boards in the link. They're targeting March 2024 for fourth reading by council.

Strange with the differing massings between Coronoation Park and Coronation Heights next door:

Different municipality; Port Moody has been very reserved with development while Coquitlam has been full steam ahead since the evergreen extension.

Current proposed densities are 3.4 for Coronation Park and 5.6 for Coronation Heights.

It's too bad that Esso will remain on such a prominent corner.

Coquitlam calls public hearing for planned 35-storey tower in Oakdale

Quote:
The public will get a chance to speak about the bid at a hearing at Coquitlam city hall on May 15.

According to a report from Andrew Merrill, Coquitlam's director of development services, the planned rezoning on the assembled 1.36-acre lot — at 589 and 593 Westley Ave., 648 and 650 Gardena Dr. and 584, 588, 592 and 596 Kemsley Ave. — is located about 1,560 feet from the Burquitlam SkyTrain station and within the Stoney Creek watershed.

If approved, it would include a total of 452 homes plus 504 parking stalls, of which 436 spots would be ready for electric vehicle charging, and a total of 24,318-sq. ft. of common amenity space.

Those two towers are developed so close to the highway that it is ridiculous. As much as I enjoy wide highways, this is going to be a truly awful place to live.

highway noise, train noise and skytrain noise. Nice to see them going up though but I wouldn't want to live there.

Look at all the 1000s of units built right up along the Gardiner in Toronto. They seem to do fine

Same with the thousands of units along FDR Drive in New York too. Same with the I-5 corridor in Seattle. Hell, any urban freeway is bound to be disruptive to thousands of people whether they're in tall towers or not.

I would understand this concept if the condos would be priced substantially cheaper, because it's literally in the shittiest possible location, but instead the prices are not cheaper, and people still gonna buy....so it gets build...

All in all Burquitlam is super busy. It is hard to keep up with all the names and addresses, I probably got something wrong...

I noticed a new thrift store recently opened in Burquitlam Plaza, so must still be some time away before it gets going
