11 single family houses replaced by 567 units - now that is what I call densification! Glad the city allowed for reduced parking as well.

ah ok, I was hoping it was the shorter of the two. The other one must be close to topping out too.

2272 Leigh Street - Open House Notice

Quote:
City Duo @City_Duo
With 108 homes, & ground level retail, this 6 floor strata building by Leigh Square seems to align with Port Coquitlam’s downtown revitalization efforts. Will it even need a public hearing? Attendees at this open house will influence that decision, so don’t miss out.

I was wondering when we would see this proposal come through. Figure developers want to make as much hay as they can while the sun of a relatively developer friendly city council and provincial government is shining.

There is no doubt that the Moody Centre area needs development and I am on board with most of what is being proposed in the area, with the exception of the 12 story mass timber building proposed on Murray St. which is too tall for that particular location, on the South side of an Oceanside boulevard and park area, but I think it is unlikely even the current pro-development council will approve that one.

Having a grocery store in Moody centre will be a huge benefit, as will another overpass over the tracks. It seems like the parking requirement may be relaxed somewhat although it still seems like a lot of spots for a location on top of a skytrain/West Coast Express station.

the site at Clarke Road and Como Lake is now seeing some action, all the places in the plaza have shut down, that part is now fenced off and fencing for the project is going up, the building to the east of it on Como Lake is still occupied, I don't know what its name is yet, perhaps just Clarke & Como. I wonder if there will be anything done with the power poles, they are really high and distracting.

Also, the former site of the funeral home on North Road is now underway, digging/excavation has started. http://ikor.ca/project/625-north-road/

They're 69kV transmission lines, not likely to be going anywhere any time soon.
