The projects are now named Perla (5900) and Onyx (5869) and just passed final adoption by Burnaby council.

Aren't those from a couple of weeks or months ago?

I'm fairly certain exavation is well underway on this site and they're several feet down into the ground with their pit already.

Those photos are from March. Proper excavation is indeed underway for Perla at 5900 Olive, I believe the existing apartment building at the Onyx site, 5868 Olive, is still standing.

It's wont take long for me to get there.

Just wanted to fire off the threads first, so that it's a bit more organized. Yes, I think north is still standing and south about one parking level deep already.

I don't believe Onyx is being built as part of this phase.
They're building Perla first and then Onyx will be built after.

How long after (or if slightly concurrently but delayed), who knows?

I guess as with all things (re)development-related, it depends on the state of the market.
