Help Chris Smith get on the ballot

http://www.citizensmith.us

He's using the VOE system, which means he needs to get 1000 people to donate $5. Click on "donate". They'll mail you the form that you need to fill out and return with the five bucks.

He (most likely) has my vote because of his strong pro-bike, pro-transit stance, even though it rubs me the wrong way that the council is, and might continue to be, all-white and all-male. With Smith on council and Adams as mayor, we'll be well positioned for the expansion of the streetcar system that is being discussed.

I would give Chris a long, hard look. I like his ideas and what he believes in. Plus, he has to deal with the constant arguing and disagreeing that goes on over on portland transport on a daily basis--that alone gives him a plus in my book.

^ More experience than partisan politics, actually.

For those not in the know, his site is regularly assaulted by the libertarian pro-car trolls (eg, the American Dream Coalition, Portlanders for More Freeways, the Randy O'Toole Jack-Off Club).

So, besides you agree with his politics, what qualities does he bring to the office? What previous experience in politics does he have? What experience in general qualifies him? Where did he go to school? What jobs has he held? I think you get the idea.
