True. Maybe there's much more to this design than meets the eye if we look at it from different angles. I guess after seeing the original design, I was pretty stoked about it getting built. We've waited 25 years and letdown after letdown before this thing finally becoming a reality. I get it that sometimes you have to cut costs in order for it to happen, but is this really the best that we can do? If I understand correctly, J.E. Dunn is the one designing the hotel, and it just seems like this one belongs over in south Overland Park. Keeping fingers crossed...

man, I would have been happy with this height but we have like 16 more floors to go. I can't wait for 3 light to get started.

2 and 3 will definitely change the look of the skyline when you view it from the south.

1925 MAIN STREET, City Club Apartments.

Everytime I'm on the streetcar and drive by this location I cringe a little. I'm so happy that they are finally doing something with this.

KC has so many cool things proposed and even under construction. Meanwhile, my City, St. Louis, has cool things proposed and never built. 2 Light is nice and I am sure 3 and 4 light will be awesome as well, but BPV Phase 2 is a lame excuse for development. Keep up the good work KC.

KC Council approves apartments near Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts
Quote:

The Kansas City Council approved a development plan Thursday to make way for an apartment building near the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.

“This is another exciting apartment project that will bring more vitality to downtown,” Councilman Scott Taylor said in a statement endorsing the $52 million project.

The building would replace an old Faultless Starch industrial structure with a 228-unit apartment building atop a 209-space parking garage, on the east side of Broadway Boulevard between West 19th Terrace and West 20th Street.
It looks like that means it'll go here

Is it me or does this Hotel appear to be getting smaller and smaller every time a new rendering comes out?

It did lose a few floors with the new design. But I think the # of rooms is similar due to the L-shaped design.

Anyway it *is* a Hyatt.

How did all of this development start in Kansas City? It appears that more and more proposals are coming at a even faster pace.

Mayor Kay Barnes teamed up with the Cordish company to replace dead group of blocks filled with old unusable buildings right smack dab in the middle of our Business District. and they created the power and light district. The district came paired with the sprint center and brought people to our downtown during non peak hours and gave our city a "living room" for city gatherings. That started a snowball effect and got us a streetcar starter line and now most of this development is being spurred by that.

that was a HIGHLY condensed version of the story but you get it.

Proposed 132-room Hampton Inn & Suites in the Crossroads Arts District
http://www.kansascity.com/news/busin...131509144.html

"A proposed 132-room Hampton Inn & Suites in the Crossroads Arts District would be the latest addition to Kansas City’s growing portfolio of hotels in its urban core.

A submission has been made to City Hall for a seven-story Hampton Inn & Suites, which would replace what’s now a surface parking lot at the northeast corner of 16th and Main streets."
