The Great Canadian SimCity/CitiesXL gaming thread!
Who has any cities available for sharing? Or who has played CitiesXL here? For me, I played all SimCitys, Societies and 2011 XL. Personally prefer SimCity 2000, 3000 and XL, although its become a bitch to mod Bankers Hall or the Calgary Scotia tower into XL
SimCity IS the reason I got interested in urban planning in the first place. Unfortunately I haven't played SimCity for years. Societies was awful to me and kind of me turned me off to the genre. I intended to go back to SimCity 4, but I never did. I bought Cities XL 2010 and was impressed with the graphics engine but I never gave it enough time, maybe it didn't impress me gameplay wise very much. Perhaps I should have given it more play time.
Oh no you did not just start this thread... I can flood it with content, like opening a can of worms.
Although I don't understand the premise. As "Great Canadian", are we only supposed to show stuff applicable to Canada or just stuff made by Canadian players?
Heres a city I made a year ago. I laid out the roads in the CBD similar to that of downtown Hamilton's. Can you find the five Canadian Buildings in this picture?
Here's an overview of the city.
I made this city two years ago. I laid out the roads in the CBD similar to Toronto's. How many Canadian Buildings can you find.
Ok Ill ask this here for some reason sc4 is not working for me. I clicked to start the game and it is not reading the disk this just started and the disk is not scratched any ideas?

I had that happen to me when I bummed it off an torrent!
I forget how to fix it though (its been 2 years). Sorry man
Pics of my latest city (NOTE: from before i developed southern side f the city):
Remember how everyone was joking about Duke Nukem Forever? I doubt Sim City 5 will ever come out, because it's honestly too much of a niche product. EA really isn't interested in anything other than mass-market video games, and they probably don't want to commit the resources needed for this project. Which will be a problem going forward, because it's going to get harder to run older games on new versions of Windows (on a Mac? Good luck with that, sucker!).

Not really.
For me, although it sucks (cant burn my city down), I do get alot more control over transit options
Here's my first attempt at creating the Gardiner Expressway in downtown Toronto.
Can't quite get it all to fit due to fact there's a road under the expressway (double deck) and the lack of el-RHW-6 (a mod) connections available in RHW 5.0.
-Though these issues could get fixed in later releases.
