^ Blast from the past... I remember that one from around 2007 or so next to St. Mary's Cathedral. Feels like something has been on the verge of happening on that site for a long time now.

vike's Wawanesa HQ is a beauty. It would have been shorter than the TNS version that's under construction but I think it would have packed way more urbanism punch by completely changing the feel of a very prominent downtown intersection. It would have resulted in a bit of an awkward mismatch with the original Wawanesa building, but I suppose it could always have been reclad.

That restaurant is something else, it would have been hilarious to have a little piece of Polo Park out there on the Trans Canada.

I remember poring over those CMHR renderings when they were released. They were the subject of extensive debate on this forum! I feel like the Predock proposal was chosen mainly for its sheer height.

The bay building with that gorgeous dome and Skycity would have been such great additions in Winnipeg. (provided the finishes on Skycity weren't cheap) I would have loved either or both of those in the city.

Esquire. I agree about the wawanesa Broadway site being way more prominent than being tower five. In the end the skywalk was the driving force. I also think being connected to true North made them feel like they are in the big leagues. It was so close to happening. Was a final hour decision.

There was a scheme to reclad the existing building in the end but it wasn’t part of the competition. The glass scheme was their final choice but I liked the punched window one that I posted better.

So at the end of the day, has FNPP sold its stake in PP? Does it belong outright to Starlight now, redevelopment or no? Or does the sale get cancelled and we're back to where we were to begin with?

Starlight has until October 22nd to secure the 400 mill, so it definitely is not dead yet.
