^Not to beat a dead horse (but I will), but the link to the Tribune building addition was included in the very first post that started this conversation.

^End of post 8389 - hence my reference to floor plates, etc. (and the follow-up/clarification is always appreciated haha).

It’s be sweet if the spine extended West by like a yard more so you’d see that sliver of light going up to the lantern from the N and S views.

I agree, I wish the cooling tower was and lantern were twice the thickness at least but all in all its a great building and does wonders for the skyline; it increases the whole scene.

It does no good to be critical I guess of the tower because overall its amazing; but no matter what we think the building is built and they probably won't change it for a while anyway if it should be changed at all. Its a good building.

There was talk that Philadelphia would never get a building over 1400'; one shouldn't say that. I remember a time when people said Philadelphia wouldn't get a building over 550' so there is hope I suppose. The now defunct American Commerce Center was designed at over 1500', this beauty is at 1121', and there is talk of a 1200' one day so who knows.

I’m really liking the diversity of towers on the skyline!

The strip is going to be lit on the mechanical floors, right? It needs to be.

It seems that the xenon discharge flasher on top of the lantern is a first for Philly. That rhythmic flash of white light is bright as hell. And, looking at it from as far as 10 miles away on the ground and in my car, I was thinking that's Comcast calling card cause that's what grabs your attention. There's nothing in our skyline that's doing the same so it must be nice to be the king of the sky at the moment.

This lantern is bright. I can see its brightness from northeast air port. It really catches your attention.

IBX used to have xenon flashers but switched to red LEDs a few years back.

Hmm, Northeast Airport! Well Norcum and Comly Road is about 20 miles away from downtown so that's pretty cool.

Hey folks; I may travel to Newark, Delaware Saturday and then to Delaware City. I'll take the scenic way back but if I come back at night I'll see how far out I can see the tower and let everybody know.

I know that on a clear day you can see the Eiffel Tower from about 30 miles away in Paris, France. So I assume since Comcast Tech is a good deal taller than the Eiffel Tower we can see it at night from over 30 miles away.

I know I could see Comcast Headquarters and Liberty 1 while riding over the Delaware Memorial Bridge on a clear day easily so at night my theory is that Comcast Tech should stand out from 35 miles away pretty easily.

Yeah I was able to see it on Route 42 all the way down in Blackwood last night.

Well, maybe driving distance, which isn't relevant for line of sight. I bet as the crow flies, it's about half that distance.

The best "far away" skyline view is from the PA Turnpike Bridge into NJ. The most direct driving route is via 95, which is about 28 miles. You can see the entire skyline.

Look at what's now showing up in NBC's (i.e., Comcast's) Philly backdrop:
