US & Canadian cities sorted by year when the tallest building was/will be built

I was getting excited that Detroit will probably soon have a new tallest building, the Hudson Tower, which is the first time this city has had a new tallest building since 1977. Then I started wondering about other US cities and Canadian cities: when was each city's current tallest building completed? I did find this thread, but it hasn't been updated for 4 years and it also doesn't state the buildings' heights. Thus I have updated the list for US and Canadian cities whose tallest buildings are at least 500 feet, and am including their heights.

First I will sort them by the years the buildings were completed or are expected to be completed:

Funny how Toronto jumps from, what, 1976 to 2022 now? Plus by the mid 2020's the current tallest will become the 4th tallest at least. Also, Toronto's new tallest according to the latest plans will be 1,009 feet.

Thanks for the info. I got the 1,005 figure from SkyscraperPage's Diagrams page, and also Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_One_(Toronto)

1,005 vs. 1,009 is a small enough difference that I will just leave it as "1,005 ft" for now. In fact even for completed buildings different sources sometimes differ by 1 - 5 ft. Some of it is probably a rounding error when people convert from meters to feet, or feet to meters. For the above list I used Emporis' figures whenever possible.

If you compiled those lists yourself you have even more spare time and interest in the subject than I have, and I have a lot of both

The title of the thread says, "was built" and the first building listed in Toronto may be built by 2022? Thus, I changed name of the thread from "was built" to "was/will be built"

Also, I believe that Cincinnati's Carew Tower held the title of the tallest building in any city in North America longer than any other since it's reign was 80 years, from 1930-2010 and even then, it was only rivalled due to the roof of Great American Tower as Carew is 8 more stories

It just misses your height threshold, but just for reference, the tallest building in Memphis, TN was built in 1965 (!!!) ... some things never change.

It didn't take very long. I started with SkyscraperPage's Diagrams site where I did a search using the following options:

Country: United states, Canada
Structure Type: Highrise
Status: Built, Construction
Order By: Official height
Height: Feet

Then I looked through all the buildings and whenever a new city appeared, that building is the city's tallest, and I wrote down its year and structural height in an Excel file (so I could sort easily).

But as much as we love SkyscraperPage, Emporis' height data are more authoritative, so I looked up each city's tallest building there and used Emporis' data as the final height values.

Though in this thread I listed only buildings at least 500 ft tall, my search actually continued until I hit 400 ft. The current tallest building in Providence RI, the Bank of America Building, was built in 1927!

Thanks for the info. According to http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=111869 , its status is still "proposed". If you are 100% sure that it's under construction, let me know and I will add it to the list.
