You can't ban pets in Toronto. My building is full of dogs. In some respects it is annoying but it is virtually the only thing that prompts anyone to speak to anyone else.

I can't speak for Toronto, but I have been assisting someone who has a dog with finding an apartment in Vancouver and it has been rather difficult, esp. as the demand is so great. Often there will be 20,30 or even 40 applicants for an available rental.

Banning dogs was ruled illegal in Toronto about 30 years ago. They can have some restrictions on number but that's it.

Banning pets in general has been illegal in Ontario for decades. The only situation where it is allowed is condominiums, since the occupants are (usually) the owners. I think it's our district health units that describe limits on what is or isn't acceptable for pets in terms of number of animals and conditions, and aside from common domesticated pets, local by-laws control what other kinds of animals are acceptable in urban areas and where.

I was looking for a business when I noticed that the Winnipeg region now has its own Don Valley Parkway

Hilarious... the RM of Rosser should one up them by naming one of their roads "Champs Élysées", "Nürburgring" or something similarly grandiose

Didn’t know The Design Quarter was a thing until now:

I was expecting a road along a river at the very least!

The Design Quarter is one of the dumbest initiatives I've seen here.

^What makes you say that? It looks like they're putting on some interesting events and promoting the area without taxpayer funding. Doesn't seem all that dumb?

^ Yeah, what's the big deal? It's just an effort at publicizing what already exists for the most part. How is it any worse than the countless examples of branding or advertising that one encounters in an average day?

It's neat idea, but risks, for me personally, from accidentally over-focussing on the fringes of various interests so in the end only the hipsters get satisfied lol.

Will still check it out though.

The idea is fine, it's the branding piece that doesn't sit well. Design 'Quarter' implies an area... that area is already the Exchange District. Too many different branding campaigns, buzzwords and initiatives make things confusing for tourists and residents alike, in my opinion...

Dufresne furniture building corner Route 90 & Ellice is up for sale, "Tenant moving" the sign says. I wonder were they are going?

It might have been brought up before, but what happened to the St. James hotel. It looks closed. If it is, what are the plans for the building or site.

Did they decide to do the renovations after the May 2017 fire on the main floor?

Did not know about the fire. New owners. They've gutted the entire place. There is little if anything left of the original building except the shell according to the new owner (didn't catch his name). Concrete walls in there now he said. That's all I know. Maybe find out more the next time I hit their vendor.
