Came out of the Lincoln Tunnel a few days ago and saw 30 Hudson St from the other side of the Hudson in Jersey..

This building as an absolute BEAST... It's huge!!!

10 years back.. nothing but possible plans.. 5 years ago.. few projects started, but now the city is just insane with construction and it's everywhere from 57th St area, to the Hudson Yards/Manhattan West, to the WTC/Downtown area, 1 Vanderbilt, to the Flatiron/Nomad District, LIC, Brooklyn etc etc..

NYC is BOOMING!!!

^^^^^

Definitely added a few cities worth of skyscrapers and highrises in the last 5 years. Each respective borough, minus Staten Island, if it were its own city, would be easily in the top 10 nationwide for pure amount of towers and construction spending. Keep an eye out for the Bronx. That place will explode with capital spending and investment.

Jersey City, the tiny, rouge province (the Taiwan of NYC), in it itself is booming like crazy as well.

Is it safe to say this is 40% of its total height thus far? From observation.

The tower is at 36th floor out of 68 total so around 50% height.

^ 68 stories?

I agree that it's a little more than halfway though.

no doubt . . one of the most exciting architectural events in NYC . .
and I am very grateful for it . . but there's always something . . right ? . .
Please enclose the beautiful top-of-tower triangular roof-angles . .

Much as I love this tower, 100 X more than any other HY effort, . .
that openness up top, will look unfinished & cheap . .
That's no old factory in Youngstown up there . .

Sheathe the roof in some sort of triangular grid of transparency . .
glass sections . . or thick plexi pieces . . that can be dramatically lit . .
like in all the impressive EARLY KPF RENDERINGS . .
all the bones are there . . just dress it up . . finish it ! . .

the mostly completed 10 HY, has the same roof, . .
yet it still hasn't done it . . & it looks like they're not gonna . .
this is more important than the big expensive jungle-gym picnic basket . .
that's gonna clutter up the plaza at the base of this . .
sterile symmetrical stairs going hither and yon . .
This important crown will be seen everywhere . . all over the world . .
don't cut this corner . . give architecture and American culture its due . .
let that penny go . . do it right . .
