Santa Monica

Just returned from a vacation in California. I spend a lot of time in Santa Monica, in the area between Centinela, Bundy and Wilshire, where I slept.

Here are some pics I made in the neighbourhood and at the shore.

Apartment at the corner of Wilshire and Wellesley ave.

Nice classic car

This should be forbidden outside New England...

Isn't it a beauty. Fire trucks in the US are much nicer than those in Holland.

Great photos! I just got back there myself and am sorting through my photos. Definitely a place I'd like to live if I ever moved down to SoCal. Thanks!

Santa Monica has some nice, quiet residential streets.

Well, you must bring quite a big bucket of money. I have been told that rents in the part where I have been cost about $ 2.500 - 3.500 a month.

I don't know what the salaries are in the US, but to me a rent like that seems to be pretty high.

Actually I guess that isn't too bad considering I've seen rent higher than that in Manhattan Beach, just a few miles south of Santa Monica. Even Long Beach (which is considered the cheapest of the beach cities) newer apartments can run around $2200 for a two bedroom rental. So I'm wondering if this is because of rent control in Santa Monica.

Nice pics, but technically most of the ones away from the beach are in (West) Los Angeles, not Santa Monica. Santa Monica is west of Centinela. West LA is east of Centinela.

Nah. In West LA you can get a 1 bedroom for $1,500/mo and a 2 bedroom for $2,000/mo.

I found that out too yesterday. I checked a site of the City of Sta. Monica. My relatives told me that they were living in Sta. Monica, but they are even east of Centinela. I will send them a yellow card...
