Thanks for the pics Initiald. I haven't been in this city long, but it's clear there's momentum downtown. I'll try to get some pictures of Elan and the new Holy Trinity Church going up on Peace - the steel that's gone up makes it look like it'll be pretty substantial.

That's cool. I still haven't gotten up to the Peace street projects. Also I saw another tower crane downtown that I think is over at The Link which a couple of weeks ago was still a hole in the ground. Also, I heard they were starting demo on some buildings in Glenwood for the Gramercy:

Today was the official ribbon cutting for the new Citrix headquarters in Raleigh. Some great shots of the building and the skyline in this promo video released today:

Durham update

Most of the updates have been Raleigh specific, but here's an update on Durham's new 6 floor Aloft hotel which is on the American Tobacco Campus part of downtown, adjacent to the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) and the AA Durham Bulls stadium complex:

On the west side of downtown is the new Residence Inn which is incorporating a historic McPherson hospitable building into the design:

"To accommodate growing demand for convention space in Durham, downtown will see the launch of four new hotels in 2015.

In total, more than 450 new rooms will be added through the construction process—joining the existent 187 rooms in the Marriott City Center, which is the only hotel in downtown Durham."

The other two hotels will be boutique hotels converted from existing buildings, including the historic Hill tower. Read more

I read a post on New Raleigh that mentioned a 12 story residential tower coming to the Warehouse District @ Harrington and Martin. Anybody know anything about this one?

That would be great news. Maybe someone will shed some light on this in the coming days.

Yeah but I forgot the details. It is the Dillon warehouse (not the one where the new rail station will be).

Also just announced are plans to build a new 12 floor hotel east of the new Charter Square building, next to the McDonalds. Not much details on that now. It could be a ways away. The 9 floor hotel next to Red Hat amphitheater will start construction this spring.

Nice. Sounds like there could be some cool things in the works for the south end. I'm curious to see what Kane wants to do with the Dillon property. I've heard 2 towers (1 residential, 1 office) initially with a cap of 20 stories. I'm sure whatever he decides to build will actually come to fruition. Kane doesn't seem to screw around.

Oooh Purdy!! I hope they are built exactly as they appear here. The city has a way of making everything extra bland. The residence inn downtown looked great before... now it's just blah and brick
