not surprising.. usually when they are about to wrap up one building they start moving equipment to the site of the next one... id imagine once the odeon starts full throttle that whole block will be closed to parking since they will probably stage stuff in the rear !

I'm really excited to see this one start, considering it'll be the tallest building constructed here in a while. I pass by there all the time, so I'll try to take pictures as things ramp up!

House passes bill to extend Harrah's contract

The bill to extend Harrah's contract for 30 years and compel them to invest $350 million into their facilities passed the Louisiana House today. Heads to a Senate committee next, then if approved the full Senate. It doesn't allow them to expand gambling space, but of course we know they're focused on a second hotel, restaurants, and a nightclub anyway. It does call for them to pay an extra $7 million per year to the state and city, and NOLA.com's article says that if revenue causes them to pay the state/city more, then amounts over that would be 70/30 split between the state (for water systems) and the city (for general infrastructure projects).

And if you're really interested in reading NOLA.com's bizarre text-only article: http://www.nola.com/politics/index.s...louisiana.html

Superdome renovations move one step closer as state officials approve survey funding

State officials continue to explore the possibility of another major renovation of the Superdome.

Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District (LSED) officials this week approved funding for a $400,000 diagnostic architectural survey of the iconic 42-year-old stadium. The non-destructive digital imaging of the stadium's walls and floors will help officials determine the scope and cost of a potential renovation.

btw I never realized until now that kailas family or others investors that are in the Hard Rock Hotel own all of these properties now.. im guessing they will incorporate all of these into the project somehow sort of like the ace did with the building where seaworthy is!
