You'll not see scene like this in the proximity of the cathedral, you have part of Saint-Denis which are well kept, and others less........
There are plenty of old decaying buildings in the center of Saint Denis, especially near the train station.
You should make a trip here, I don't know if it is safe to make pics here, few years ago it was quite invaded by crack drug dealers.
Before they were in the station plaza but the autority built a police station and increased the police presence and then dealers moved in the nearby streets.
It was not unsafe to walk here (very busy area) but I would have avoided to take pictures.

I'd be interested in seeing pics of central St-Denis... hard to believe there really are dilapidated buildings in the immediate vicinity of the Cathedral! (>100m)

I hope new commie blocks aren't in the plans for the areas near central St-Denis... of course they're always ugly, whether seen or hidden, but (generally speaking) you guys would be better off keeping them out of the tourists' paths.

(You're doing a good job overall, judging by many comments in this thread expressing complete surprise at Le Charbonneur's pics...)

I wonder what Paris's population would be if they were to add most of these urban 'burbs to their city limits...

I was being sarcastic! lol My point was, it doesn't matter who's in your pictures, whether white or black. The focus of this thread is the urban decay after all. The need to avoid some people in your shots to keep out of trouble is understandable, which is why many streets appear empty. I definitely appreciate you taking the risk to photograph these areas for us to see.

It depends what do you call urban.
If Paris had the land size of Chicago, it would have approx 5.5 million-6 million, I think.

Yipes. While the architecture is different, it reminds me a bit of a thread that was done on some of the decay in Montreal a while back. It too was a great thread.

Wow.

On a less serious note I'm surprised no one's filmed a zombie apocalypse film in this side of Paris... a lot of the surroundings give off that vibe anyway lol.
