Nothing new about needing numbers in the rear. I remember that being a bylaw 50 years ago, I guess the city is getting back around to enforce it.

Maybe back then it was required more as a number of residents had oil heat and the driver needed to know the address off the backlane for deliveries.

Makes sense. From time to time, I've had to go to someones home and told to park in the back and if you dont know exactly which one it is, you're kinda counting houses to get the right one.

not new at all old by law cities fed up with trying to get people to do it. they actualy funded puting numbers up on fences and garages a number of yrs back and people were removing them...

So, didn't get around to reading that article in the Freep about the Kootenay Ice coming here and the large development planned [ https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sp...504557802.html ], but it leads to a question that I'm hoping someone on here might have an answer to. By the way, I asked my councillor, Orlikow, and his office simply said it's not his ward so he doesn't have any insight but suggested I reach out to the Charleswood councillor's office, even though it isn't his ward either (thanks for nothing, folks!).

I'd asked them if, given that the city has had plans for *decades* to connect Bishop and William Clement Parkway, and that since the logical meeting point for those two routes is right where Fettes et al are planning on building this development, has anyone at the city reached out to the RM of MacDonald to make sure land was set aside for this or were they just going to sit back and watch the RM approve $10's of millions of new developments along McGillivray and negate any future possibility of the ring road connecting there?

^ I don't think anything has happened with the extension. As it is, there houses and businesses in the way. Somethings got go if they actually want to get the connection through. Would likely be a provincial highway much like CCW is for the portion outside Winnipeg. The RM is not in a position to operate a roadway like that.

Good point about the CCW equivalent but the only time you run up against houses and business, all the way from Grant to the Bishop flyover, is at the McGillivray/La Salle Rd. area. Which is why the city should have been buying up property in the area.

Mind you, for all I know, Fettes has already been given the 'build it here, and the roadway will come to you' talk.

It would likely be in the best interest of the RM to spearhead some type of development plan. Like you said, 'the bypass is coming' haha who knows though, it may never happen.

Anyone know what’s going on with the old zellers space in the bay downtown in relation to skip the dishes? The doors were open to the area heading downstairs with it being roped off and a giant skip the dishes banner was hanging in there with a smaller skip sign with some instructions which I couldn’t read as you head down the stairs.

I like this article. The content is straightforward: Winnipeg can lead the third Industrial Revolution, if it has vision. From what I can see, the city is aligning itself with this. The construction of CMHR and Diversity Garden, rising tech sectors and real high end living spaces are the indicators.

And the vision lies inside those century-old buildings in downtown and the numerous warehouses behind them

If people are even willing to invest in that shockingly huge tower in Detroit, we can do it too, and likely in a much better way
