These are wicked shots, especially the night shots of the Cathedral; however, I'm not and never was a fan of the selective decolourization.

The weather's not too good right now, so no new pics just yet. Here's a shot of a sunrise I took yesterday though (in Siegburg, which is located right between Cologne and Bonn).

Excellent shots.

One thing TDL...I always wondered...do you actually live in Cologne or just nearby.
You disclose so little...

I live in a town between Cologne and Bonn (I go to the University of Bonn). It's pretty easy to reach both cities with public transportation though.

You made Cologne look very good! I was there this summer for a day....which I recommend for anyone passing by. Everyone should at least see the exterior of the Cathedral, it's mind blowing! A day in Cologne is all that's needed I would say - not the most exciting place in the world...

Those are outstanding shots.

They sure do more justice to the place than those in all the crappy old German textbooks I used to have.

Wow, beautiful set of photos. In my opinion, Cologne Cathedral is one of humanity's greatest architectural achievements. Any city can put up a refined small building or get a crane and assemble a cookie-cutter 600-foot condo tower, but you have to have one hell of a civilization and human drive to put to put up a structure of such size, such intricacy, such overall balance of parts and pure spirituality, and by using not much more than simple chisels and pulleys.

that huge brown cathedral is spectacular
I like the low profile cities where the skyline is dominated by big cathedrals and this is definately in that category
beautiful

Your pictures are fantastic, especially the cathedral, which I believe is the world's third tallest.
I like the modern and abandoned stuff too.
