In July and August we travelled in 4 weeks from New York City to eastern Canada. We first stayed in Brooklyn, took the Amtrak-train to Niagara Falls Ontario jumped on the Via Rail train to the Canadian capital Ottawa, continued east to Quebec-city and ended our journey at Montréal.
Don't expect a detailed travel report, but lots of pictures of fantastic places.
On a day like this we start at Ground Zero, as a tribute to all the victims of this terrible terror.
This damaged work of art moved from WTC to Battery Park.
I've seen the restoration going on for about a year now on that greyish structure on the right side of the picture above but to the left (west) of the S.I Ferry Terminal as you sail into Lower Manhattan. anyone have any idea what it was or is going to be?
more great stuff again today Benonie, i'm loving them! looks like you enjoyed yourself and how could you not?
Thank you. Unfortunately we didn't make it to Boston this time, but next time it's on our to-visit-list with priority!

You mean this one?
I don't know. I thought it was an old ferry-terminal at the other side of the Hudson River. Anyone?

Indeed! One of our best trips ever. No doubt we will return to the States and Canada in the future.
This thread is the proverbial gift that keeps on giving. Always look forward to the updates and can't wait to see the photos once the journey begins! Thanks for putting the effort in to posting all these shots!

Pier A has had quite a few suitors over the years, but nothing ever materialized in terms of commercial development. Now it looks like it is on the way again to be fully realized as a mixed use space. Check out the link below to articles and local discussion.
Nice pictures. It looks like you had a great time getting almost every part of Manhattan covered. Are thunderstorms common where you're from? I've never heard of someone refer to a "traditional" thunderstorm.
The building across the river is the Central Railroad of New Jersey Communipaw Terminal. The gray building is Pier A, which served the Department of Docks and Harbor Police, and also the NYPD's boats as well.
