Hey, thanks for remembering! I've postponed the trip now until the 29th.

Do they have desert cows in Dubai? (Not Camels!)

You know, this picture actually looks familiar!

They look like my 3D Dubai charachatures that I made for a company called Delta Design.
It was part of a flash based web package we did for bulk web templates!

Here's some of the images on this flash web template.

^ Cool stuff!

Who could forget the trip (and great, rare pics)! Most of all, have fun and get ready for traffic!

BTW, here's yet another map:

Thanks again!

Traffic! I'm gonna get off my ass for a change and walk the city 10 times over.

SLR in hand, backpack full of a few cold ones and laptop sat on a balcony with a view of the Marina, stealing all of the hotels wireless bandwidth by permanantly uploading photo's until I can't stay awake any longer!

Now that's what I call fun!

I would love to see a looong exposure, night shot of the entire BD complex:
http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/show...&postcount=101
then one of the tower itself also at night.
http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/show...&postcount=217
That would make a great poster or large print with all the lights on it before it gets cladded up. Night shots are rare, but the entire complex is rarer and with a long exposure, the lights would be super clear!

Yeah, one XXL high res BD nightshot for your desktop background coming soon!

You'll be able to see your icons much clearer that way!

^^ Off Topic, but can you ask your contact at Besix what's up with a 333 meter tall tower that they have proposed to build in Belgrade, Serbia? Any news on that.

Desktop, yes, but I am thinking in terms of downloading it on some high quality paper and frame it on the wall!

Apparently, although approved it is due for final design approval in April at the earliest as they're currently working on design projects in the same city codenamed "Block 20 Delta" and "Block 20 Sava City" diagrams and final quantity surveys for the 200m long Ada Bridge.

When I get any updated pics forwarded to me I'll PM them to you.

The only thing I could find personally is this YouTube thing on it (Serbian Russian)

^Hope there's 80 or 90 to add to it.

Some nice desktop background images. Couldn't find a thread to place them, so I thought I would dump them here.

Litter Bug!

That atrium reminds me of Victorian British architecture......very similar to Crystal Palace.

Altin, does this building have a name yet or just a plot number?
It's a nice looking building and a fitting tower for its location IMO, must be 250m+?
Do you know what stage it's at currently? (proposed, approved, soil testing, piling, foundation, U.C?)

^^ The building is under construction (shoring, piling, excavation). That ARABIAN FORASOIL tag there, is for the shoring/piling contractor. I have seen machineries on that plot weeks ago, but being just in the path of the Dubai Metro and the same piling company, doing the piling and the pillars for the Metro track in the same place, putted me off thinking it will maybe be a Metro Station.

If you see carefully the last picture (construction site) you can spot a yellow piling rig on the left, those tall yellow silos on the centre-left, the yellow containers on the centre-right, and a white crowling crane on the right.

BTW another 200m+ is starting in Shaikh Zayed Road, just next to 21st Century tower. the site is cleared now and the shoring/piling contractor is moving machineries and equipments on site. The funny thing is that for that plot we have seen 2 proposal from SOM and WOOD BAGOD, both pretending to go through. I guess we have to wait and see who is right.

Thanks for that Altin, it's strange how it's not only BD suffering the cloak & daggers game. Going past these construction sites daily must be very exciting for you. I would give my left testicle to be able to witness this amazing city rise up around me.

You will go to Dubai at the end of this month so you will get this special Dubai feeling during your trip.

I was in Beijing and Shenzhen, some of the fastest growing cities on this planet but Dubai is on another level.

Very true Tom, I didn't want to come back last time in October and I was only there for 2 days.
I got a whole week this time so it'll feel like a proper holiday!

Thanks again for the map links, I must get round to adding some more website stuff soon, just been so busy!

I've heard of the imaginativley named 'Burj Al Arabi' building before, strange as is; but I've never seen that other abomination before.

Looks like something I've long forgotten in my Chemistry lessons!

I would have been more impressed if they built a building that looked like this.....
