The parking Garage currently under construction is 1 of a few they will build. I didn't ask anyone specifics but they said the work will go on till 2020. So like Russian history, it's about to get worse.

It looks like an attractive building but I would almost want to see the pillar area go from 2 to 5 pillars and increase that sections height by 5-10 feet.

While it's sad that something cool isn't going there, it's nice to see Millcreek city isn't blowing tax dollars to build a big marble stone city hall... yet.

That's good news that something is going there. What part of Millcreek city is going there? Is it going to be their city hall??

Some updates with SL County

Salt Lake County is planning a Library in Daybreak - 11600 Grandville Avenue, South Jordan, Utah

There is an RFP for architectural services out now

Kearns is getting a new Library as well.

Method Studio was awarded the Mid Valley Performing arts center to be located in Taylorsville

Quote:
he performing arts center is expected to house a main stage with roughly 500 seats, as well as a smaller, black box theater with about 250 seats. The project will be funded through $36 million from Salt Lake County's tourism fund and $3.3 million from Taylorsville.

Detailed designs will be determined over the next year, but county officials plan to model it after the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center in Salt Lake City, said Erin Litvack, Salt Lake County Community Services director.

Drove past this today and it actually looks really good with the library and rec center across the street. Actually gives Harriman a city center feel and has some street engagement that I wasn't expecting.

South Jordan City is in the process of constructing the new Public Safety Building and Civic Plaza. The Public Safety Building will be home to South Jordan Police Department and Court, located in South Jordan Towne Center between the county library and the Pie. The plaza will feature 3 interactive fountains, a walkable area and library seating.

The Public Safety Building is 44,00 square feet with 3 stories and a basement. The building will feature a crime lab, evidence room, meeting/training room, records storage and will hold our police department and fire administration.

The City is considering other areas to relocate the Ice Skating Rink.

Estimated Completion: Early 2019

Ha! I just spend a good 5 minutes looking at Sandy City hall on google maps trying to figure out where the hell there is a Pizza Pie cafe across the street from it before I finally realized that you were posting about S. Jordan City, not Sandy...

Proposal sounds like it may have some legs, wouldn't be surprised if it happens, but I doubt we'll see 12 stories, just given the nature of the neighborhood.

Old Cottonwood Mall site may be turned into 12-story residential towers, other housing and little retail space

http://www.sltrib.com/news/business/...-retail-space/

Quote:

Ivory Development and Woodbury Corp. are proposing far more housing and far less retail space than the concepts that have been informally discussed since Utah’s first mall was leveled in 2008. Holladay’s planning commission will hold a hearing on their plan at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Much of the housing would be concentrated in high rises, with Ivory Development’s proposal calling for structures 136 feet tall (the equivalent of 11 or 12 residential stories above first-floor commercial) on the northwest corner of Highland Drive and Murray-Holladay Road (4800 South).

Building heights would taper off as the development moves to the south and east, with a subdivision of detached single family homes flanking the perimeter adjacent to Memory and Arbor lanes.
While I do like that they are talking about building higher, especially with ground floor retail, I am not sure that they will end up as tall as they are stating.

Downtown is only starting to get 10+ story residential in planning (outside of CCC). Sugar House is right there with development as well. But both areas have transit alternatives. This area doesn't have decent transit service levels to help support the project which means that extra parking will be needed and traffic will increase a lot.

I with them luck but I am doubtful.

Holladay is very hostile to large apartment complexes. I would be shocked if they ended up that tall.

If I had the money and could afford to just let that land sit for 20-30 years as an empty vacant lot I would buy it and do just that.
