Only way they'll survive is to do fried chicken ramen.

Naw, there's a lot of activity on the Davie Strip. More variety, some unknown yet, but work underway. With the massive build-up of new condos and rental towers in the area, the retail and restaurant scene on Davie will inevitably shift. For the better one hopes.

Opening Soon in the space of two blocks (Burrard - Bute): Hamburger Mary's redux, Mumbai Local Indian street food in the former Daily Catch, Dosa & Curry in the former Judges Indian, The Italians (open now) in Jim Deva Plaza, and the aforementioned Juke Chicken.

Kadoya Sushi has upped their facade game with new bold signage, awning etc.

Also, the space formerly occupied by GiGi's pizza/Priscillas has been gutted, rebuild, and preparing for something new, but yet unannounced.

There is also new retail, but since this is the food thread, I'll resist posting.

I've lived in this 'hood for 30 some years, and this is the most activity I've ever seen.

With the 3 year trial of street patios (in front of Stephos, Los Amigos, and separately, Pumpjack Pub), this street has serious hope of becoming interesting.

To a certain extent you want to see new places opening up, but at the same time you don't want to lose that local feel. Davie Street has maintained that for decades now, so I presume it will be safe.

Can confirm. Sitting at Fountainhead now and just heard all about it.

Yes, agreed. I think there's still a 'local', home grown feel here, and will remain. Let's hope anyway.

Nice to hear about all the new activity happening on Davie. I'll be able to check it out in a couple of weeks.

Italian Tomato is so good, and the portions are enormous! That website doesn't do it justice, the food is awesome! Very very happy to see them opening on Davie

G-Men Ramen is opening a second restaurant in Steveston! "Sometime in July" is what I've been told. In the old Tapenade/New Well Tavern location at Bayview & Second.

Moderne Burger, chased from their West Broadway location by yet another condo development, will be re-opening further east at 865 West Broadway (at Laurel).

You should look into the background on that. Moderne Burger was the owner and brokered the whole deal. They are lying if they claim they were forced out.

Vancouver burger joint forced to close after 17 years of operation

Moderne Burger (2507 West Broadway), a 17-year tenant, told Daily Hive back in December 2017 that they were going to be forced to leave their much-loved Kitsilano location due to building demolition.

This redevelopment will also cause the inevitable closures of their neighbouring eateries, including Japanese spot Kinome and Benny’s Cafe...

You have to look into who the owners of the property that's being sold are. Moderne's owners are involved. I don't have time to search for the link now, and they certainly aren't publicizing it.
