Democratic architecture should not be lowered to the level of highrise offices. Furthermore, this design presents a fragmented government with no unity or apparent heirarchy. There is a reason our current capitol has a central dome (a symbol of unity), and equal sized wings that demonstrate the system of checks and balances. Great renderings, but the concept should be applied to a corporation, not our nation's capitol.

Looks like the Head Quarters of a Software company. I much preffer the current rip off of St. Paul's and the Pantheon.

looks like some modern suburban office complex. Dont like it at all for a capitol but if it were an office complex than thats a good design.

Alaska?

It's just a massing, but it's a terrible massing for something so central. It just wouldn't work, architecturally, for the site of the Capitol Building.

NOPE don't like it.

Alaska deserves something much much more iconic and not so dateable.

I also think it looks like a suburban office complex.

My avatar doesn't really like it either

Guys, this is a fictional "proposal" for the US Capitol, not Alaska's state capitol and most certainly not real.

guys, this is NOT for Alaska. "Our New Capitol" is the name of the Flickr set of renderings from the design student.

Thanks for clearing up the misunderstanding, kevin!

Its not a bad building at all, its just that it would make a great corporate headquarters as opposed to the main structure of the US government.

I visited DC one time and I think the entire city needs a big makeover. It just doesn't feel like the true capitol of such an awesome nation outside of the mall. Anyone else agree?

No. It's the same as everywhere else (i.e. capitol = building, capital = seat of government).
