Curtain wall mockup - note the angle to the flashing

Guys who enjoy their job - all I could think of was kids building a pillow fort.

Walk this way

A drain next to a column top - they are expecting quite a stressful drain judging by the amount of re-bar around it.

No room - but a view

I recall there being a meet or two around 2003/2004. That was a long time ago however, and in a galaxy far far away.

As for the Heine's, I say lets splurge for the $20 12 oz bottles

Was peeking at Wanda webcam and noticed workers outlining signage that will be hung prob today at the site. What struck me was the "Opening 2019" part. Looks like they've pushed up the schedule as everything I have seen said 2020 (unless I missed something which could very well be true). 2019 sounds aggressive but with the execution they've delivered so far you never know.

So the condos will be on top, right? Might this opening refer to just the hotel? It's possible the building will be topped out and enclosed but unfinished in the higher floors. That's essentially happened right now with Optima Signature (AKA Optima II), which has the lower units available for rent while the upper floors are still under construction.

You are probably correct. This was just the first I had seen of any mention of 2019.

^^^ I was going to ask this the other day. Since the tallest condo portion will take much longer to complete do you guys think things like the garage, hotel, restaurant ect. will open well before the tower portion is topped off?

maybe I am wrong, but "before the tower is topped off" would be complicated because particularly the high rise elevator shafts and stairs would still be open at the top, which would cause all sorts of pressurization and weathering issues. City code officials certainly wouldn't be very enthusiastic about that either. But I could see the lower portions of the building being able to open while interior build-out still has a ways to go on the condo floors if the enclosure is pretty much set.

Chicago’s Vista Tower Loses Its 83rd Floor So People Won’t be “Afraid for Their Safety” [Chicago Architecture Blog]

"The 83rd floor is going to become a two-story high “void space” known as a blow-through floor that will “disrupt and reduce the wind effects on the building.” "

^Thanks for sharing.

A few other items of note:
The glass program has been changed from green hues to blue/gray, but this might be no different than the latest renderings we've seen.

There's this dumb sh*t- "And, by law, the space cannot be illuminated. So when Vista twinkles in the Chicago skyline at night, she will have a black choker across her neck." 432 Park Ave in NYC has four blow-throughs, all of which are illuminated and look quite good. Illinois law remains ass backwards.

Finally, height appears to have grown to 1,198.

Interesting, although I think the 1,198 may be above sea level, it's hard to tell from the diagram.

it's definitely not above sea level, as the land in chicago itself is already ~600' above sea level.

i think the 1,198' figure is the new height above chicago city datum (CCD), not necessarily the height of this tower above ground level.

^^^ wouldn't the ground level here be at most a few feet about CCD since it's so close to the lake and river? There will be entrances at Park level, so regardless of how tall it is from Wacker, the CTUBH will view the height from park level.
