Never seen that angle of North Van before. Even upper Londsdale appears dense.

I happen to love the clouds in the second photo and it's shame that I was too tired to take a wider / panorama shot of North Vancouver. It's again the zoom lens that brings the mountains closer to the city.

I need to explore Gastown area more, but I am not sure if walking down East Hastings is a safe thing to do with an expensive camera...

Both are common views (walking over Lions Gate Bridge or taking the Seabus to Downtown), but I haven't seen too many photos of them either, which is why I decided to share my shots. interesting is the difference in the feeling of density between the two photos of the same city.

Shows why we locals get upset when people say something like "New West is the only urban feeling area outside of downtown." Yeah CNV buildings are stubby, but Lonsdale can go head to head with any other suburban town centre for street life. And the building boom only started recently.

edit: Klazu, if you're looking for another under-appreciated angle, try around Grand Blvd. Especially for Metrotown pics. Makes me wish I had a zoom lens every time I'm there.

Also a nice park to visit.

This is really stretching "suburban" but I thought some here might be interested in my Whistler photo thread:

Othello Tunnels in Hope make a nice day trip from Vancouver. These photos were taken on the August long weekend.

Drive along Lougheed Highway is always a treat.

One of the bridges was closed due to water having eaten away some of the concrete.

These old rail tunnels are really dark.

Amazing! I've never been to the Othello Tunnels, and always wanted to. This makes me want to see them in real life!

If you want to do the whole 10km loop trip on bike, then I recommend starting from the west side (closest to Hope). It's a very gentle uphill all the way to the tunnels, but this will give you a very easy and fun return trip.

If you just want to check out the tunnels, it's only a 500m walk from the parking place on the east side.

Very nice pics of the Poco Trail, Klazu! I moved from Poco only a month ago, but I already miss biking the trail 2-3 times a week.

It's particularly spectacular in late evening lighting. Much lower quality pic:

Back to the local trails. This time we are at Mount Thom in Chilliwack. There were some nice autumn colors emerging already two weeks ago.

Trail begins from the edge of suburbia.

It's an easy, yet steep, trail up the mountain.

Finally at the top.

Beginning of October the weather was still warm in Vancouver and so we took our bikes to Ladner. Here are photos of Roberts Bank area along the 25km loop ride we did.
