That what WCFC is on the previous page.

*****

Drove past Maynards today and the mullions and spandrels of the curved facade look awfully brown in the daylight.

^I was just thinking Maynards would look much better had they went with black mullions and dark spandrel to contrast with the brick.

WCFC is being completed in two phases, basically from West to East. I believe the first 2 or 3 buildings are to be completed end of 2013 with the final building finishing early 2014.

Here's the West end of WCFC:

As per the original plan, yes 3 phases. But when it came back to market and sold out so quickly they apparently changed to basically one phase with the final building a little behind. Or so they told me.

Big News...

Village Cleaners is Open! 24/7 Automated Dry Clean Drop-off / Pick-up! Also tailoring, shoe repair, and wet cleaning!

Also... looks like the SW corner of the Urban Fare building has been leased for a Subway. There goes the neighbourhood.

ditto that! Well I guess that would be a strategic location to be fronting a bike route, namely West 1st Ave, as cyclists tend to go for healthier alternatives.

Thanks for the pics.

I find the back of James far more interesting than the Cambie side of Maynards.

Maynards has a bit of playfulness with the variation in the bay windows, but it's incredibly "ordinary" - especially for a facade that will be viewed by thousands of people crossing the bridge every day. Maybe the landscaping on the roof decks will help.

BTW - will Wall Centre False Creek have street front retail or just the theatre entrance and townhouses?

I think with the exception of Pinnacle False Creek 1, everything on West 2nd will have street front retail. I think.

And I agree that Maynards isn't really turning out the way I thought it would, especially the Cambie bridge side.

I was wondering about the West 1st Ave frontage of Wall Centre FC (facing (or near) the back of the Salt Building)

I don't believe West 1st will have much commercial other than in the Olympic Village plaza / Salt Co. Building...

Anybody know what's going on at the former Millennium offices off Columbia on W 1st?

Lots of construction trades been in there the past while. Not sure if it's being readied as a new presentation center for someone or what?
