Inaugural Edmonton Volvo club meet

There's some car guys here so I thought I would post some pix from the first meet of the Edmonton Volvo club. Actually it's more of a meet of the Edmonton division of the Calgary club, but there's been more & more Edmonton members so we decided to get together & form a chapter.

Not a bad turnout for a first meet & no advertising. We had my '82 242GLT, a 1981 242Ti, an awesome 1984 245GLE wagon with a fully built out 302c.i. Ford slammed under the hood, a 1964 PV544 that's in the middle of a restoration and a super sweet chipped & dropped '96 850-R.

Nice. Still have a soft spot for the Bricks. These are the bricks that have been in my family: '67 123 GT, '71 144, '75 242, '80 244, '81 264 (PRV V6 is the worst engine ever. Same colour as the 242 GLT in the pics), '87 244 (best of the bunch, still going...), '94 854T, '98 S70, '05 S60. Lost interest when Volvo became Fordized. Be interesting to see who buys them.

This little group of Swedish car nerds has grown exponentially in the last while. we've now got a website: www.voee.ca

We met last night for our monthly meeting & had a good mix of cars including a 944 turbo, '87 244 DL with a mitsubishi turbocharger & aftermarket intercooler, my & Darrens' pair of '82 242GLT's, a 1987 & a 1990 760GLE, a pimped '01 S70GLT, a totally cherry '80 242DL & a 1978 262C being rebuilt.

Like everything in this town, things like this can be a success, it just requires someone to take the initiative to put it together. I'd like to think our little car club is contributing in one smal way to making this city a little better for some people to live in.

Yup, my GLT gets put to bed shortly as well. Not very happy about that at all.

I thought I saw someone not-you driving it the other day... And it wasn't the rightful owner either. Unless there's another tracked-out S2000 in town?

^Ziiiiing.

@240 - I'd like to be part of the Volvo club. Being an owner of an '06 S40 T5, it would be nice to mingle with other enthusiasts.

Cool CMD, I don't think we have anyone with an S40 yet.

Either go to voee.ca & sumit your details or PM me your e-mail adress & I'll add you to the mailing list. I doubt we'll be meeting again this year.... standing in the Ikea p.lot in -25 & blowing snow doesn't sound like much fun, but we'll see.
