There was a webinar presentation about this project in May. Greystar will manage the apartments, and Page and FGM are the architects. The presentation has several new renderings.

Haha, yep. My thoughts exactly. I don't generally look to West Campus to be impressed with architecture, though I love the density of the area. Everything there is intended to be utilitarian. I think we will (as we have just started to) see more architecturally interesting buildings, but it won't be the majority.
This one is really going to be prominent— it’ll totally loom over the mostly-single-story church, as well as the Drag itself. Unfortunately it’ll block a lot of ground level views of the nice height WC is developing. I’m not against it per se, but boy is it going to dominate that block.

I noticed the lowest entry to this tower was at an elevation of 552' (Level 0G). The height reaches 881'. So, this one is 329' tall. Also, the address has changed to 2026 San Antonio Street.
The buildings going up in WC remind me a lot of big housing projects you see in European countries. Somewhat quirky yet very utilitarian design, and definitely huge and imposing.
That's a messy building but at least it's tall and adds residential density to the most walkable neighborhood of Austin. Student housing should be cheap because they are taking on huge debts to pay tuition and fees. If they had save money on housing and transportation then it is good for the students, good for Austin, and good for America.
BUT... the street level interaction is HORRIBLE!!!! Look at video above at 18;00 they are intentionally creating a blank wall along Guadalupe and 21st.so "They" don't have to see the people on the street. Not only is it not accessible. It's downright not friendly, which I find off for a church. Not welcoming ya'll. Feels like a bunker to keep them protected. Oh... and thanks for all those big blank walls for our taggers in the neighborhood.
