Before they could even bring pumps onsite, don't forget they had to install sheet piling then rebuild the entire side of the marina. Doesn't matter how much money you have to throw at it, design still takes time. . . Compare what's holding the marina wall back now compared to prior to the incident.
and they certainly don't want it to happen a 2nd time - no time for shortcuts!

Not a supertall but between some of these towers there'll be a shopping centre and a hotel / serviced apartments tower that's fairly ugly and will block out the views from the lower half of the pentominium tower.

Looks better in the website video

I don't find it ugly. The window pattern is interesting.

This is a good example of not having money one day, then having it the next and going crazy with it. I think someone already said this, but with all the super tall buildings being Built in Dubai, i have lost all architectural will to be impressed with any of these towers except the Burj Dubai. All these towers look great, but good God, could we not build them all at once? Its going to be a ghost city for a while. No way there are enough people to fill half of these towers, let alone all of them. When im in my old ages and my grand children ask me what a good example of over kill is, ill say look at Dubai.

Man that thing IS UGLY! It's shaped a lot like one of Trammel Crow's buildings which is a copy of four buildings in SF [each has three roofs at different heights like this one does].

I know some of you have seen these already but I'm proud of these renders, thanks to "Dubai Addiction" over on SSC for making some of the towers.

yeah, I did. I thought it was a very interesting story. BTW, has all the water been pumped out at the infinity tower site yet?
