Enso can't be considered "started" in any real way. It's even behind places like Escala, Olivian, Moda, and Gallery, which have demolished and removed but are waiting fenced for the last few hurdles apparently. Enso mostly hasn't even demolished. A trade publication I think said they were looking at November for demo.

Did I say Enso for all that??

It looks like I did.

I meant Escala.

Damn names all sound the same.

LOL - it's all part of the marketing...

"I'm looking for a nice 1BD unit in Escala"

(Escala 1BDs are all sold out...)

"Ah, yes, we have a great unit on the 14th floor here at the Enso... it has a great view of the Needle and is in walking distance to a bunch of shops"

"Perfect!"

Escala hasn't dug anything. At least not by yesterday. It's waiting for some sort of hurdle(s) or decision(s) to pass. Announcing construction financing is a positive. I suspect that they're trying to wring a few dollars out of the design, either through VE or by rebidding a few packages. Anyway, it's not a go until they start excavating and shoring. Which they have a permit for already.

As I said above, there's a "hole" in part of the Escala site. It's not a hole from starting the excavation, it's a hole leftover from demolishing a building. But it's a hole nonetheless, and you could technically say they've "started" excavating the site. Or at least gotten a headstart in digging the hole.

But no matter how you want to mince the words, they've done the demolition so that's far-along enough to classify it as "under construction."

That is the low-income housing project.

There was something resembling a rendering posted in post #186 of this thread, but that's probably the closest you'll come to a rendering. A Google search came up blank.

BTW, the official name of that building is mentoined in the abovementioned post.

Thanks. That one's a tad bit better so I replaced the other one with it.

A woodframe apartment building. I think it's an Intracorp project.

A large backhoe is parked at the Escala site. My guess is a Monday start for the project. (They demo'd but have done nothing for probably two months.)

Presenting the NEW First Hill Skyline...

How they managed to fine-tune this project into boxy, flat-topped, slabby, beige/gray ugliness is beyond me. I give up, again.

^economics. hold out hope though, a lot of these boxy renderings turn out to be pretty cool when they actually get built... some of the time.

I'd like to see other angles before I judge too harsh-like.

Yeah, I second that.

Oh well.

NEway I changed the rendering on the first page.

From this rendering alone I can see that they seem to have sliced part of the east side of the tower and put it on the south side, turning it from a rectangle to a square.

Second they flattened the curve.
Third they neutralized or dimmed the colors.
Pretty much three wrongs. But even then, they could redeam themselves somewhat with a wave-like (water) crown, ow four light boxes on each corner instead of that under-exciting lip, but no.

This is in Cleveland

The Coleman Tower sounds like it might be alive again so I put it on the front page. Not sure why it never got there in the first place.

too bad the old tower isn't an option still, I loved that design, with the curved roof.
