nice job! the bronze naked woman statue is called "the naked truth," and is a monument to three c.1900 german-american journalists. adolphus busch donated most of the money to build it, and the sculptor was brought in from berlin. it was built at a time of sort of the height of the german-american community in st. louis before world war one.
an ironic aside, the city reservoir, also photographed, next to that statue was covered during ww2 out of a fear that agents of the german government would poison part of city water supply.
some people decry st. louis as being insular, but i see it as sort of a city-state type stronghold where we are free from the low-brow reactionary conservatism of the greater lower midwest and upper south. downtown being fearlessly and boldly ablaze with the colors of pridefest reminded of this.
reminder of how expansive the pre-war urban core of st. louis is. this was photographed near midtown, and downtown clayton in the distance is the end of the pre-war urban area.
