I agree, the yellow also complements its black neighbour, Aviva Tower, very well!

...

I didn't think it was possible to make Guy's Hospital worse.

You're making me nostalgic, even though so much has changed in four years. Heron Tower was about 20 stories up. Since then, City of London has become a trophy case, and a tasteful one at that.

It only rained two or three days out of the three months that I was there, and it was unusually warm. Back home in NYC my friends and family had the lousiest, rainiest summer in memory.

I have been hesitant on commenting on this building in the hopes that it would "grow on me". But the more it goes up, the less I care for it.

From the street it is an affront to the the neighborhood. It looks like a huge toy building block was dumped on top of the existing buildings. And those views of these historic buildings that have now forever been blighted with this thing now lurking over them.

The yellow back is atrocious. It looks like classic jail cells that go out onto catwalks, hideous. and the clear glass that allows you to forever see this horrendous structure both inside and out, bleaa.

From afar or up close, there does not appear to be any redeeming quality to this building. I would hate to have to go and work in the building every day and that is exactly what a good building should make people want to do. It should make them want to be in it and engulfed by it.

I know I'll get a lot of backlash here and truthfully I did want to like this thing but no such luck. Of course this is only my humble opinion which will not mean anything in the grand scheme of things. Good luck to the people of London who have to live with it.

^ It's funny how opposite tastes can be. Of course, the visible steel structure is what makes it so appealing. To me.

Yes, that's a strange thing to it. I would like it better if there wasn't that partition between the office spaces and the 'catwalks'. But again, visually playing with the structure like it does is brilliant. Pretty sure people will be proud to work in there.

one of the last 2 tower cranes has been removed - and the transparent quality of the cladding with the industrial steel structure clearly visible

I really would like this one in Toronto. Along with the Gherkin.
