Los Angeles/San Diego 2009: Better Late Than Never

Part III in the "Buckeye is a Lazy Ass" collection of photos from years past.

I went out to SoCal for a job interview in January 2009 but met up with ChrisLA and KingoftheHill on MLK Day for a quick jaunt through the Southland's finest neighborhoods.

Hit it, maestro:

First thing I did when I got into town was head up to Mulholland Drive

Onward to Long Beach:

Skyline shots from Signal Hill:

Morning in America

Sun finally started to peek out from behind the marine layer

Pretentious Asshole Shot

ChrisLA and I picked up KingoftheHill and headed out to a neighborhood in Baldwin Hills for a couple skyline shots of LA

Mid-Wilshire

LA. Duh.

We then traveled over to the West Adams District. I'd been working my way through the TV series Six Feet Under and kinda geeked out way too much when we encountered the house used for exterior shots of the funeral home.

Also, there were horses.

Paint job needed, desperately. Maybe its been fixed up since I was last there nearly three years ago?

Midwest charm at California prices.

And finally...

Across the street

We left the friendly confines of West Adams for the hustle and bustle of Echo Park

I was trying to emulate KingoftheHill's ability to capture people, and failed at it miserably.

Who would've guessed: I'm just not a people person.

Behold: Kitsch!

Strip mall'd

More KOTH emulation?

Yup

I reckon many a failed and wannabe writers occupy this establishment

Typing away on their keyboards, day after day.

Because: Why not?

This went straight from "Pretentious Asshole" into "Borderline Creepy/Pervy"

Sunset shots of the LA Skyline from around Elysian Park. Thanks to Paradox21 for introducing me to what has become my favorite place to get skyline shots

Goodnight, from LA.

My job interview was in San Diego the following day. I only had a short amount of time after the interview to get a couple shots from around the city.

Coronado Island

Better, albeit less entertaining, view

Borderline pretentious shot

I like bridges

I mean, really like bridges

I didn't take enough time to properly set up the tripod for these shots, hence the crookedness.

So long, San Diego

Thanks for taking a look. I have one more set in the "Better Late Than Never" series. I was hoping to do one of these a month before the end of 2011 but life and whatnot got complicated so I wasn't able to keep up the pace.

Long story short, at some point, my shots from Ensenada Mexico from June 2009 will be posted. Then its back to more recent threads, including shots of Albuquerque and Flagstaff.

Nice pictures. It's too bad that you didn't get a chance to see more of San Diego.

I miss SoCal so much. Whoever says it's just sprawl is an idiot. Two spectacular cities. Thanks!

Oh I remember that day, it started out kind of ugly, grey and even a bit humid, but later it was a nice day.

Thanks for sharing, you captured some beautiful views around southern california.
