There are plans for a new county courthouse in Winston-Salem. We'll have to wait and see what commissioners do. Currently, the county is leasing space in a neighboring office building, due to the lack of space at the courthouse. That old office building is the state's oldest steel frame skyscraper and likely already has apartment developers waiting for it to become available.

I featured this earlier in the thread, but some good news came out about the old Wayne County Courthouse in Detroit, yesterday. Five years after the Wayne County executive branch left the building empty, it will be renovated for a yet-to-be named tenant after being brought by a New York City investment group.

I'm not sure if this building would be the equivalent of a county courthouse for San Francisco, since the city and county are combined; nearby are state and Federal courthouses, but this one is the Civic Center Courthouse for the County of San Francisco:

Neat topic.

Here's my own photo of Kalamazoo, Michigan's Art Deco Courthouse, built in 1937 and located on the northern edge of Bronson Park, downtown. M. C. J. Billingham was the Architect.

A new three-story, 82,000 SF Criminal Justice Complex was completed in 2016 to consolidate all family court functions for the entire county.

Plans for a new downtown courthouse are now in the works, no public details are available yet.

Well, the renovation hit a delay right from the start, but an update is that it finally started in December of last year and is probably mostly done by now.

Crain's Detroit Business

Restoration work begins at Old Wayne County Building

It doesn't need a lot of work, which is why it's only a $2.1 million.

San Francisco (City and County) has 2 courthouses. That one is for civil cases only. Criminal trials are held in the old Hall of Justice (where the largest county jail is--there are several of those too).

http://capitolshots.com/courthouse-p...ll-of-justice/

But I'm not sure about the plan for this 50 year old building. A new "Public Safety Center" is being constructed in Mission Bay and the SFPD headquarters is moving there from the HOJ. As far as I know the, the criminal courts are not moving but I could be wrong.

Incidentally, if the HOJ looks at all familiar, it's a bit of a movie star. "Dirty Harry" starring Clint Eastwood as inspector Callihan was filmed at the Hall of Justice and so was "Streets of San Francisco," the 1970s TV police series.

Not a "county" courthouse rather the municipal courthouse in my home town, built in 1914 from locally quarried granite. At the time it was the largest and most expensive courthouse built to-date in British Columbia

*County Courthouse:* Jasper County Courthouse
Location:Carthage, Missouri
Architect:Max A. Orlopp Jr.
Year Completed: 1895

It was built to replace the original Jasper County Courthouse destroyed in the Battle of Carthage during the Civil War.

It is a Romanesque Revival style building that rises 133 feet and is also my favorite building.

An interesting factoid is that it is the 2nd most photographed building in all of Missouri behind the St. Louis Arch.
