^Makes me wonder if it would be a nuisance for residents at the top of Trump or Hancock above the canyons?
But I believe this is a commerial/office proposal. Thats what it looks like in the rendering.

Yeah. I mean the units I had were on the 22nd and 25th floors and I had absolutely no trouble hearing these sirens a half mile away.. (some of them could have been from other stations further away). When I had a west facing 25th floor unit with no high rise in front, I could hear a lot - even very faintly the cars from the expressway (very faintly, but if you listened close enough you could hear it). I had never lived in a high rise before Chicago and the general noise pollution upon first move in was pretty blatant and obvious. It took a little bit to get used to not even noticing another building's noise from stuff like HVAC. After a few months though I barely noticed. This was fine but the sirens really annoyed the hell out of me early in the morning - during the day while awake wasn't a big deal.

People at the Aqua seem to handle the fire department at their base just fine. I doubt it'll be much of an issue.

In other news that's less likely to irritate one,

The Cedar St. skinny apt highrise being built next to Bush Temple just landed a large equity partner and a construction loan

NAR building on Michigan Avenue is getting an addition on top, plus some major interior renovations. Essentially rules out any redevelopment anytime soon.

^Boo! I remember they had planned a pretty large tower (70+ stories?) on a combined site that would have included the existing property (current NAR building to have been torn down to make way for an entryway/plaza) as well as the parking lot on the other side of Rush St.
Didn't really seem to have a high probability of actually taking off, but would have been cool to have another large plaza along Michigan Ave. with the Wrigley building fronting directly on it. I think the proposal was to emulate Rockefeller Plaza in some way or form, from what I recall reading.

An existing building that's been there for 50 years with a 1 story addition on the roof that appears to be some kind of conference center.

That stinks. The original 90 story proposal there would of been awesome.

Right. But was the one story addition designed by the dad from My Big Fat Greek Wedding after a trip to Miami?

There ought to be a 1960 Buick convertible gracefully rotating on an autoshow turntable up there.

New 23 story building slated for Milwaukee and Carpenter was issued a new construction building permit. This is just south of the Chicago Blue Line
