So surprised to see many American elements in Rotterdam, but I feel Rotterdam is getting more and more Frankfurt am Main vibes.

Awesome pictures of an amazing city!

It's worth pointing out that modern architecture is a thoroughly European creation with a strong Dutch intellectual influence. I'm not entirely sure what the above post is getting at... that Rotterdam has buildings (some of them towers) with glass and steel facades? That the words "New York" appears in some places around the city? That the city is beautifully heterogeneous and multicultural? Or simply that some American products can be found for sale in the home of Europe's largest seaport? I have to point out... Dutch capitalism wasn't exactly stolen from across the pond either.

Frankly, the architecture and urban planning that I see in Rotterdam is far and away more impressive, more creative, and more innovative than most of what I see in America. Just because the city doesn't have to protect the aesthetic character of a UNESCO historic district doesn't mean that it isn't of its own culture.

Mouais... God knows we all like the US over here anyhow, but I find them a bit too loud and naive in their fascination for America and NYC, that's not always so benevolent to us, is it?

We still have to gather our own people in a genuine Euro federal nation, and I'm sure neither China nor the US will ever help us to achieve this feat, that would serve our own glory so much that it would surpass their own.

I surely won't kiss anyone's butt like that, until they show us all how really good and generous they really can be.

Rotterdam is beautiful, very underrated, visited some years ago! Probably the most American looking city in Europe.
