Kick-off event in Everett for Fisherman's Harbor
By JOURNAL STAFF

The Port of Everett will hold a kick-off celebration from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday for the final phase of the Everett Shipyard environmental cleanup.

It will be near the 14th Street haul-out along West Marine View Drive. Everett Mayor Ray Stephanson and Port Commissioner Troy McClelland will speak about the cleanup and future plans.

Magnus Pacific was awarded a $6.2 million contract for the cleanup in June.

Work will involve replacing marine infrastructure to remove contaminated materials. After the cleanup, the property will be ready for development.

The site will become Fisherman's Harbor, with restaurants, retail and recreational boating.

Project: Riverfront Redevelopment

Quote:
The proposed action includes construction of a mixed-use commercial/residential development, shoreline and habitat restoration, and rehabilitation of a former, mostly industrial site. The proposed Master Plan includes the construction of up to 900,000 square feet of mixed commercial use; 200,000 square feet of hotel space; and up to 1,400 residential units (multi- and single-family). The ultimate mix of uses constructed will be determined by market demand and the land use capacity of the site (type, location, and size of uses and structures, and infrastructure capacity).

The Development Agreement includes a conceptual master plan, development footprint, permitted uses, zoning and design standards, required improvements, mitigation conditions, and other development requirements such as required timing/phasing of public and private improvements. The Development Agreement also includes processes for amending the conceptual site plan, including criteria for what constitutes major and minor amendments.

The Port of Everett and city of Everett are holding an open house today from 6-8 p.m. about the latest plan for Waterfront Place Central.

The open house is in Waterfront Center's Blue Heron room, at 1205 Craftsman Way. A brief presentation begins at 6:45 p.m.

The 65-acre site could see as much as $373 million in new development, according to the port. That total includes $340 million in private projects and $33 million in public infrastructure.

The port says the goal is to unify the marina with surrounding property and create a new community where people can live, work, shop and find entertainment.
