It hasn't been a week since I've moved back to my hometown of Calgary from Vancouver and there's not a day that goes by that I don't miss living there. I'll always hold a special place in my heart for you Vancouver!
The following are some pics I took over the course of 8 months, originally taken in colour that I thought would look good sans colour.
Enjoy!
Awesome set. Some of those look perfect in black and white and some like they could've been taken 50 years ago. I also love that there isn't much focus on downtown, or at least on the new sterile areas of downtown.
Some of the ones I especially liked with the black and white were the one with the gritty old building with 'Prick' on the wall (2nd last one), the Lions Gate Bridge one, the 'Dynamo' one with the person in the wheelchair, the Red Burrito on Commercial, the one with the house with a cat on the porch, and the Granville Street at night one. The rest look great too, but those ones stood out in my mind.
Great shots! I really like the night shots and the one with the old taxi.

Thanks for the comments!
That house has a faux-thatched roof to make it look all cottage like. It's kinda tacky but actually quite a sight in person. And funny to think someone would go through all that trouble to make a house look like that...
^Agreed. AWESOME photo for sure. The rest of the thread is also awesome. What the hell is going on with the roof of the house on that last photo though? that's wild...

I know there are at least three houses of that style around the city. I forget where one of them is but another one is around West 8th and Highbury on the west side. I think they're called Cotswold Cottages.

Thanks for the link!
There's a pretty interesting house along 10th Ave in New West sorta like the one above but not as detailed.
I also noticed the amount of houses on Kind Edward in Vancouver that have castle-like detailing, mostly above the front door or something. Is there any reason to that I wonder, or just a style everyone was copying at the time?
Hmmm....
