I understand where you are coming from, but speaking as a medical specialist who gets called into the hospital if there is a multi trauma MVA, I can assure you that I am a lot less busy in this regard now than I was 20 years ago. A lot of this has to do with the twinning on the TCH in southeastern NB.

In general, I think Canada should learn from countries like Germany: Set the speed limit at 130 kph for divided freeways and 120 kph for undivided ones and actually crack down on people doing 3+ kph over or 12+ kph below, and on left-lane campers.

Sure, but that highway was a lot busier and had significant truck traffic.

Those speeds hapend to be the reason for so many MVA's

I never said 'full length'; I said between the existing 4-lane sections near Saint John and past Welsford. My reasoning is pretty simple: since the Welsford bypass was constructed as a 4-lane stretch, we now have an 'orphaned' 2-lane stretch between that and Grand Bay. Welsford is also about the limit of Saint John's major commuter communities so it makes reasonable sense as a place for 4 lanes from Saint John to narrow back down to 2 through Frederiction, especially with the provision of the 4-lane segment at Petersville as a midway point 'separation filter'. A few more passing lanes wouldn't hurt, though.

Putting that aside, even apart from twinning, one change I'd really like to see would be to have the second lane carried forward at the Grand Bay exit, instead of the two lanes merging into one and then having the exit merge out again. IMO, it should just have the two lanes right through with overhead signage indicating to motorists to get in the left lane to continue on Route 7, and the right lane for Grand Bay-Westfield. It's no end of irritating how people slow down traffic by slowing down to 80-90 just because the exit is coming up in the distance. Too many people in NB who don't know how to merge and diverge on and off highways.

We cannot compare roads around here with the situation in Germany, 1. their roads are impeccable on the autobahn (absolutely no potholes or cracks on the roads over there), 2. there are many more tests and skills for a driver's licence in that country than here, and they're much more expensive (driver's licence) 3. also German vehicles are especially made to be stable & comfortable at high speeds, many people around here drive SUVs and trucks which are not meant to be. Germans vehicles can't be compared to American or Asian products in that regard. 4. and then there's the weather...

Footnote: Autobahn highways are statistically safer and less deadlier than North American highways.

The provinc has tender out for the overpasses. I can’t believe it’s taken then this long. The Pat Binns government was supposed to build this in the 1990’s.

The single-lane portions of route 7 are in awful condition, anyway. The condition of the roadway is embarrassing.

If they're not going to twin it, they need to at least reconstruct it.

They've resurfaced some long stretches between Welsford and Fredericton over the past 2 years and it's in decent shape for the most part right now. And they've done most of the 4-lane segment near the Route 1 interchange.

The rest of that 4-lane segment and the remaining distance to Exit 80 on the other hand... there are so many craters it's like trying to drive on the moon. That entire stretch really needs resurfacing this year and given what they've been working on the last few years, I predict they'll do part of it this year.

But I'd be hoping too hard that they'd do the whole length between the faux weigh stations and Exit 80 or the Welsford bypass. What's needed and what's likely are, unfortunately, two different things. Which is frustrating because that road is my commute and I fear for my rims every single day.

News on the Route 11 Twinning. they have plans to have it twinned from Shediac-Miramichi. Acording to DOT, and Polititians alike have said the numbers warent it. I'm guessing to many head on accidents. They did talk about deadly accidents as well because it's a dangerous stretch, and have a day like today the tow trucks where out in full force.

Is there a release somewhere that states this? I see the CBC article that says they have announced 180 million for 20 km of twinning. 6.8 km between the Shediac river and Cocagne River, and 13.8 km between Cocagne River and Little Bouctouche River. The way they have written this sounds as though they won’t be twinning the bridges? Anybody have a take on this? I guess in my opinion 180 million seems like a lot for 20km of highway, but not enough to build a few bridges.

Based on what I Read on CBC, this funding was already announced back in January. I have been wrong many times before, however, this appears to be old news. As for the BRIDGES, they appeared to be working in the water beside the Shediac river bridge on highway 11 (near Chez Leo's) last September laying out where the bridge would go when I drove by.

It is on CTV Atlantic, and this is being said by the Premier Brian Gallant who has stated that the second section is starting out to be twinned, and by the end Route 11 would be twinned from Shediac to Miramichi. Also should point out when it came to "will they put up wildlife fencing" He stated it was up to DOT, and Provincial Wildlife if the numbers are there to have them put up.

The reason I brought it up is because less mentions of this where that it would only be twinned to Bouctouche.

The votes might warrant it - the AADT does not. Shame, as it's a waste of money to twin anything on Route 11 north of Richibucto.

This is the same build-it-and-they-will-come attitude that hasn't positively affected Charlotte County whatsoever...and at least that twinned highway leads somewhere.

You know it’s posts like this that make me question your credibility. 90% of what you say I take with a grain of salt.

That being said, there is no plans to twin from Mirimachi to Shediac. They are building a bypass on the Michimachi end and twining to Boctouche on the other end. That’s is. That’s all they’ve ever planned. You miss hear what Brian Gallant said cause even tho I didn’t hear or see the report, I know he didn’t say they’ll eventually twin the whole thing, cause that’s not their plan.

Sorry in advance if I offended you or anybody else from this post.

I would like to reinforce the fact that they are not dividing the highway to Miramichi. In fact they aren't really even dividing the highway as far as Bouctouche. They're only dividing the highway as far as the south shore of the Little Bouctouche River, thus saving the cost of building two bridges and a couple of interchanges in the Bouctouche region. If anything, Gallant is cheaping out on this project..........

There has been a lot of confusion about the Highway 11 twinning project, including in the legitimate media. One of the perpetrators of this misinformation has been Premier Gallant - yet more proof that he is indeed an idiot.........
