Last February I had the chance to spend 6 weeks on a business trip in Washington, D.C. It was my first time in D.C., so naturally I took lots of photos during mytime there.
First photos are actually from Arlington, VA where our apartment was in.
Nice photos Klazu. Did you enjoy all the touristy opportunities?
Really like this night shot.
I really liked my time in D.C. and am already looking forward to my next business trip there likely in couple of months. That photo is taken from the 18th floor of an apartment building in Pertagon City. Great view of the surrounding city.
Nice shots. The first time someone comes here it is crucial and correct to see the big museums & national monuments, but I hope the next time you're here you have a chance to see more of the living city.

Pentagon City Costco.
So frustrating, the last major suburban-style holdout in Pentagon City. We want it to redevelop, but it's apparently the highest-grossing Costco in America, so they're holding out as long as possible.

That, and the annoying empty lot up the street. Ugh.

That one is being developed. There's a site plan, but I don't think renderings yet.
The Metropolitan project consists of 4 buildings, but the lot I think you all are talking about does have a site plan and all the buildings are going to be in the 15-20+ story range.
I actually worked at the Nordstrom in Pentagon City part-time a long time ago and the view of Pentagon and Crystal City from the break lounge at that time was kind of impressive, especially at dusk. I imagine in another 5-10 years it'll be much better.
They really screwed up the east front of the Capitol by ripping out a beautiful lawn and installing that underground "visitors' center". On the surface, it's right out of Albert Speer.
Don't be deceived by the nice-looking, urban landscape of Washington DC. At its core it's a conservative Southern town, with ugly people and no soul. This is one of those cases where you shouldn't believe everything you see.
