My guess is that in 30 years this will have become a virtual ghetto because it will be so undesirable. ... just my honest opinion.

Soviet Halifax... complete with gables.

At least its not just houses... The brick ones are attractive, but as always, "could be taller".

Overall, not a complete fail, but not a success. I wonder how good the materials will be on the Panorama.

That's actually my worry as well, that this might wind up becoming a sort of crime center or something.

Might not though, sitting that close to Bayer's Lake, which could cause the rents to be higher on those buildings, since it will have a direct link to there. Still, considering how Fairview has gone these days (and I consider Mount Royale part of Fairview rather than Clayton Park), I wouldn't count against it. Moving the High School really gutted that neighborhood.

I didn't mind this development at first, but there's too many of these buildings too close together now.

The junk yard owner in this area is selling 8000 sq feet of land, or I think it was 8000. Walked by this earlier.

What are the transit links like? How long would it take to, say, get downtown?

They could build taller on unused land and try to make this area more walkable with retail. That might make it a mini hub. Is this the Mississauga of Halifax?

This is a rendering for the last large lot in Mt. Royale, might be the first nice building:

This is by far the best building in that area yet. Is this going to be right at the lights on Dunbrack and Washmill Lake Rd. It looks like it is!

I wonder how Clayton Park will evolve in the future as we see better and better developments. I wonder if it will ever be significantly pedestrian and transit-oriented. There's a lot of potential for improvement in the commercial strip mall type areas and the the Mother House and Tremont Drive plans are fairly nice.

This may be far-fetched but Dunbrack could be reconfigured as a transit corridor with bus lanes and could connect up with Bayers Road somehow. Perhaps Dutch Village Road and Main Ave could be used, or an, dedicated bus lane on part of the 102 (probably more realistic). An even better plan: get rid of Auburn, build a big new neighbourhood with a transit corridor included from the beginning, and build an underpass to connect that to Dunbrack under the 102.

Northcliffe could become a proper bus terminal and there would be an opportunity for tons of transit-oriented development in the Dunbrack and Lacewood area.

There is a greenbelt behind this site that will be home to an extension of the Mainland North Linear Parkway. Hopefully something can be worked out to make it friendly on that side as well.

The rendering does look great though!

What is the name of this building and is it improved and if so, does it have a start date and a new thread on this forum?

kph06 mentioned that the same developers that did the Vic are now working on a development for the empty lot on Robie Street next to the Atlantica Hotel. I expect that it will turn out nicely.

That is excellent news... I can't wait to see a rendering. I wonder what the max height is?

It will be a fight regardless of what is proposed... this area is definitely NIMBY with regards to the Cyclesmith proposal.

Absolutely. As fairview continues to grow and cost of living increases closer to the peninsula, people will move further and further up the hill.
