I drove by today, excavation has been progressing steadily, they appear to be 5 or 6 feet down at most points.

They're putting in 3 levels of underground parking, so there is still a lot more digging.

I wonder if they still plan to follow the original timeline for the second building and start it sometime this spring or summer. It would be great to see both of these under construction along with the library (plus maybe some others like Winsby's!).

One machine was working today, I grabbed some photos, but it was hard to get a good angle that shows the progress, here's what I got:

I wonder how much longer it will be before they can pour footings for this building, and how long it will be before they start the second one?

This aerial shot from a couple years ago is pretty interesting:

The crane from Le Marchent Rd is being moved to The Sister Sites in about 3 weeks.

It remains depressing how much of our downtown core is still surface parking lots.

So glad this development is happening. I just pray that the ground-level retail is of decent quality and makes the area worth visiting

This is true but about half of these lots from 2011 are now construction sites in 2013.

Lots aside, I really like the layout of South Park Street and the Maritime Centre. This area has a bit of monumental quality that the older parts of the downtown area lack (aside from maybe the Grand Parade, but unfortunately that space is ruined a little by the strange placement of monuments and the big parking lot across the street).

An article in ANS tonight mentioned that the crane for this one is supposed to go up this month, and that excavation for the second building is expected to start once the first building is "well underway".

The article also mentioned a start on King's Wharf towers 3 and 4 but I'm not sure if that is news or if they are just repeating earlier plans.

Not sure if this has been posted before, but Banc has a page for the Mary Ann with a rendering: http://bancgroup.ca/properties/item/the-mary-anne

Looks a bit clearer than some of the other renderings I've seen. The design is a too busy for my tastes but the storefronts look good. This area will look great when construction and the new streetscaping is complete.

Lose the port holes. They add a lot of visual noise.

I do fear it's a pretty everything-and-the-kitchen sink design. Visual chaos, and not in a good way.
