...The 600 Lofts (formally referred to as the 616 Lofts) will be six-stories with 274 units on the 600 South block of State Street.
The development is just over a block from the Courthouse TRAX station and directly along the 200 bus route, a high-frequency route
that runs north-south and State Street, and is just over a block from the Courthouse TRAX Stations...

Biomerics - Another medical device firm to relocate to Salt Lake City, bringing 380 jobs

The salt lake city department of economic development announced the corporate headquarters relocation for a medical device company to utah's capital city, bringing with it hundreds of expected jobs over the next eight years.

Biomerics, a medical device maker for the cardiovascular market, is moving its headquarters to the city's northwest quadrant, just west of salt lake city international airport.

the planned 230,000-square-foot facility will include corporate and engineering offices, and research and development labs, as well as cleanroom manufacturing, a news release stated.

“biomerics has seen incredible growth over the last few years, which has encouraged us to look more strategically at how we do business in salt lake city,” company ceo travis sessions said. “this new facility will enable us to better serve our customers, expand our current resources and invest in new opportunities.”

scheduled for completion next year, the headquarters will accommodate up to 600 employees. The project is estimated to be a $38.5 million investment over next eight years, with more than 380 new jobs expected to be added to the company's payroll, according to the statement.

Amazon building $200 million facility in Salt Lake City

...Amazon executive Teresa Lynch said the new, 800,000-square-foot facility will play a major role in the company's distribution system.

"This is one of our flagship regional facilities and will employ hundreds and hundreds of people in the community," Lynch said. "This is our first real announcement to enter the state of Utah … and we can't wait to be a part of the community." ...

After years of leading best of rankings in business and technology, Salt Lake City is beginning to attract national developers looking to invest in the growing city.

“Downtown Salt Lake has emerged as one of the most attractive and affordable places to live for lifestyle-driven professionals from all over the country,” said David Enslow of Timberlane Partners.

The Seattle-based, Timberlane Partners plan to build their first new construction project in downtown Salt Lake later this spring. That project, the Morton, will be an eight-story mixed-use residential building planned for the 200 South block of 200 East...The Morton will replace a 0.63-acre surface parking lot just north of the Russon Brothers Mortuary. The $21.5 million, 120,000 square-foot project will consist of 137 residential units and 1,400 square feet of retail space. The project includes a two-story parking podium with ground-floor retail below six stories of residential space. The project will have 100 parking stalls, 0.73 parking spaces per unit, and the units will be a mix of studio and one and two-bedroom apartments.

According to the developer, the apartments will be designed with an open floor plan with floor to ceiling windows. Most of the amenities will be at the penthouse level and will include a clubroom, fitness room, yoga spaces, pet terrace and grooming room and a community rooftop terrace...

Downtown Adj. Update - Central Ninth District - C9 Flats

C9 Flats is projected to be a 97-unit building with four floors of residential occupancy above a two-story, 116 parking space podium. The development will occupy the southern lots of the block on Goltz Avenue between Jefferson Avenue and 200 West.

With its mountain and downtown city views, the C9 Flats will include boutique apartment homes with industrial chic touches, including a rooftop terrace; a fitness studio with separate yoga, barre and spin rooms; bike, ski and snowboard storage; a paw spa; electric car charging stations; covered parking; co-working spaces; iPhone remote building access; onsite single stream recycling program; urban studios, one- and two-bedroom apartment homes; quartz countertops and high-gloss cabinets; plank style flooring; LED lighting; and six-foot windows and sliding glass doors.

Anticipated to open in the Spring of 2018, C9 Flats joins five other new multifamily developments in the redesigned Central Ninth district. The neighborhood will feature urban studios, downtown and mountain views with nearby access to public transit and recreation.

At 61 units, it's not very big, but it's part of the previously mentioned Centro Civico Mexicano development on 600 West between 100 South and 200 South.

I'm happy to see we are progressing from the 4-5 story residential projects to the 6-7 storie ones. Especially with the Gateway district filling up, the number of floors increases will eventually challenge the zoning for the area

Yeah, I think in the coming seasons we will also be seeing a lot more 8-10 story residential with some mixed-use thrown in. It amazes me how quickly Salt Lake City is building up now. Another thing I'm noticing about Salt Lake City is the nice materials they're putting on the exterior of most of their residential. I think the recent renderings of places like Hardware and the Shoko site development are great examples of the local flare for brick, metal, and a long list of varied materials and a nice range of color palette also. If the local forum was any indication of the general public, then there was quite a rebellion early on against the use of beige stucco in SLC, or stucco in general. Thank goodness for that! Unfortunately, they're getting away with way too much stucco here in L.A. on the mid-rise residential. Pre-50's L.A. really knew how to finish their buildings right.

The first steel beam was erected May 17 for the South Concourse, signaling the start of vertical construction.

During the next 13-17 weeks, 21,600 tons of steel (an average of 30-40 tons per day) will be brought to the site for the South Concourse, Terminal and Gateway Center.

Directional signs for the new Park-and-Wait lot are being installed in preparation for a June 1 opening.

More than 400 construction workers are now on site.

Construction crews are building rebar cage towers (24’ high) for the parking garage and rebar cage columns (33’ high) for the elevated roadway.

Preparations are underway for North Concourse construction.

Work to extend existing tunnel to connect the South and North Concourses.

About 430 workers currently on site.

Concrete pours taking place for Terminal walls.

- Waterproofing of terminal tunnel ongoing

- Reached 460 trade contractors on site

...According to the project’s architect, David Dixon of Dixon Architects, the updated design reflects input from area stakeholders and a work session with the planning commission balanced with the needs of the project’s future tenants.

“We pulled more activity to the street to provide functions that are more amenable to the pedestrian level,” said Dixon.

The project consists of four structures, a residential mixed-use building, an office building, a medical clinic and a parking structure. The project will also include a new public street, the reopening of Stringham Avenue, and enhancements to Ashton Avenue.

...The Liberty Boulevard Apartments on the 700 East block of 400 South is well over halfway framed out. The project is a block in length with frontage on 400 South, 500 South and 700 East. The northern section of the building, fronting 400 South, is framed out but framing is still underway on the 700 East and 500 South portions. Liberty Boulevard will be mixed use with ground floor commercial space on 400 South and will include 267 units, 27 of which will be income restricted.
