A new 6-star hotel has been proposed for Glasgow IFSD (International Financial Services District). Designed by architect, Iain Simpson the hotel will contain 158 rooms and 68 serviced appartments over 2 towers at 93m and 49m tall.

Looks interesting, lets see how this one goes ...

Great design.

Is the exterior material reflective (metallic)?

Yeh, apparantly 50% of the building's surface will be glass with the other 50% being reflective metal panels. It's also suggested wood or leather? will be used ...

It's gonna be built onto the top and to the sides of this building:

It really is a superb scheme, remember first seeing it a few months back and I loved it, and it still continues to improve every time I see it. Top stuff and also a very good height.

Interesting, but I don't think it will fit in with the existing tenements!

on reflection, and after looking at your link, this looks pretty good!

There are already quite a few hotels on Argyle street, this area of Glasgow appears to becoming hotel land!

Anyway, good to see that part of the city being rebuilt, as it was an eyesore for many decades!

Do you know what they are building at the Anderston centre?

Council throws out plans for ‘hideous’ hotel in city centre.

This is the one on Jamaica street, don't know about the other one yet on Argyle street!

I believe that's an old image and it has since been re-designed. I totally agree though, in that guise it is most definitely an ugly turd of a building.

The other hideous building (mentioned above) which was recently refused planning permission went something like this:

However, the hideous hotel may still be built? g

Gasgow city council has requested the developers to resubmit a new design!

no such thing as a 6* hotel.

There can only be 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5* hotels, 5* being most luxurious, some offer additional services and are set apart, but no such thing as 6* hotel.

If that be the case than Beverly Wilsher would be one such hotel, or London Ritz, Paris George V and so on...

There are 7* hotels in Dubai and Milan.

There are 6* hotels in Macau, China, US ...

A quick search on google confirms that there are many others.

There is no such thing as 6 and 7* hotels, trust me, Dubai hotel is a 5* hotel it is just that they offer extra service and facilities.

And Dubai being Dubai they tend to exaggerate things and make everything over dramatic. It is not a 7* hotel it is mare 5* with facilities and services that are just bit extra. You go to Hotel classification Authority and ask them are there 6* or 7* hotels, they'll laugh at you.

Most of these hotels that try to promote as if being better than the rest tend to use marketing tricks and propaganda stunts to make them selves look better and they award themselves 6 or 7*.

No authority will actually award 6 or 7*, there are only 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5* hotel classifications.

BTW have you seen burj al arab hotel, it is most kitsch hotel ever, have you seen interior decor or decorum of that so called 7* hotel, it is awful, I'd never give that hotel 3* to be honest, it is done in very bad taste. But than this is about Glasgow hotel so I better end on that....

ewwww...although it has some interesting features, but overall, ewww...

i kinda like the one they cancelled though. although it looks like remnant from the "poor man's neo-tokyo" plan for glasgow from the 60s.
