I had assumed from the photos it was supposed to be a stone texture - walking by this weekend I saw it is actually a wood grain. Kind of looks like worn floor boards, painted light gray, and on a wall.

Yes - and that appears to be intentional - not just the effect of the forms.

It looked like they wanted to mimic the look of old style board formwork, for some reason.

Well, it could have windows at the bottom rather than a parking garage, but anyway... best one could hope for given parking requirements.

Yeah exposed board formed concrete is in style right now. I assume as a result of some renewed interest in brutalism among architects.

This VDT design lost 90% of its integrity when the additional mullions/fins that varied with every other shift were VE'd out...

Yep, this one went from being one of my favorite proposals to possibly my least favorite finished product of the cycle.

Prentice was here - Simpson Querrey Biomedical Research Center

June 3 - the Superior side

Froms off of the full shaft core - being left at full size for future expansion ?

(one daughter just went through training at BCBS-Ill and they were bragging about how their building was one of only 2 that had done this.)

Harry, thanks for getting the Superior side of Simpson Querrey.

Two small other observations - The label for 400 W Huron is showing as "400 N Hubbard" and the post for the Planet Hollywood tower doesn't have any label (I think it's "Gallery" something?). Not nitpicking your heroic effort - just trying to contribute to it. Congrats to your daughter and her awesome new office view.

^ don't think the final result sucks, though I'd whole-heartedly agree that the renderings depicted something superior to it....

Wow, the contrast between the low-rises and high-rises on Wells St is reminding me of 10th Ave in Hell's Kitchen
