Detroit River Kayak Trip Pt 2

I'm going to let the pictures mostly speak for themselves in this part. This set continues downtown from near the east end of Detroit's Belle Isle.

From part one: http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=200959
"Remembering Steely Dan's kayak photo tours of the Chicago, Milwaukee, and Ohio Rivers a couple of years back I decided to do one myself.

This is of a stretch of the Detroit River from Lake St Clair to a pebble beach on the edge of downtown Windsor just east of the Ren Cen.

Due to my unfamiliarity with the newest border regulations vis a vis recreational craft there's not a whole lot here of the American side, at least up close.
http://blogs.windsorstar.com/2012/03...-border-rules/ "

check out Steely's tours here:

USCG Station, Belle Isle

Abar's Island View

Brooks Peace Fountain

Goose Bay. This is a sheltered little cove that i'll put into occasionally, especially since I live fairly close by.

Alexander Park. I'm going to turn up current and beach it here, as I live across the street.

Now for the last part of the journey:

Off the western tip of Belle Isle near the foot of Drouillard Road. There's a bit of a chop building in the river.

Hiram Walker coming up on the left

The end of the Hiram Walker property; Childrens' Aid Society across the street. From here to the Ambassador Bridge the riverfront is all public parkland.

Belle Isle Bridge

Chene Park

Heading back downtown

Fantastic! I love all of the Detroit skyline shots. You're really making me jealous! I definitely need to get out on the river sometime. Thanks!

Nah, you can't be jealous. Only a woman is worth your precious jealousy. But Detroit's buildings look slightly better than those of the Canadian side...
I'm just saying.

Nice! I've probably driven that stretch of Riverside Drive close to a thousand times but to see everything from the water is quite different.
