No problem.

I was passing by H&H yesterday and the electronic billboard at the corner of the intersection was advertising the date.

Speaking of which, the "Hollywood Blvd" city street sign was covered and was "replaced" with "HOLLYWOOD REPORTER BLVD." Anyone have an idea what that was all about?

I was downtown last weekend, the Hope Street signs were replaced with NYC 51st Street signs. The street was open to traffic.

I guess they don't give a shit about confusing people that are actually trying to get sometwhere.

The filming crap has gotten out of hand, IMO. There need to be controls over Downtown filming. DTLA can't continue to be treated like a Hollywood backlot, now that so many folks live there.

Okay, it's a crappy photo, but I was just excited to see the new lights are already up on Hollywood and they look great! BTW, they too are color balanced for filming at night.

Well, its all part of living in LA. Better they do film here than dont. Though, I do agree they shouldnt confuse people to the extent of replacing street signs and not putting up any alternatives markers that it was hope street.

Isn't there already a gay/lesbian old-folks' home in LA? Or maybe that was a socialist/communist old-folks' home...

There are a lot of gay people in Hollywood. I'm sure one is not enough.

Is homophobia an issue among old folks in hollywood? Just wondering why we must segregate them from straight folks...

Birds do, bees do it, even old people do it... haha! Most old folks don't leave the building much but they do socialize with their neighbors, so it helps have likeminded people in the same building. My girlfriend used to work for an old folks home and she noticed that many of the people there struck up relationships in the building.

POLA, you make a good point. While society shouldn't "segregate" certain populations of people, it really does make life easier to live among like-minded people.

Especially when dealing with the gay community, homophobia can be rampant among older generations.

From Curbed LA:

CRA Taps CIM for Office Building in Hollywood

The Community Redevelopment Agency has entered into an exclusive negotiation agreement with the CIM Group to construct the first office building in Hollywood in 30 years, according to city documents. The new office building is planned for the site across from Hollywood High in the 6800-6900 block of Hawthorn Avenue. The project will provide 250,000 s.f. of new office space on the site and will attempt to preserve the historic building facades of affected properties on Hollywood Boulevard, while displacing some of those tacky souvenir shops, a pizza parlor and a hostel with 95,000 s.f. of new retail. The block also contains the El Capitan Theater (home to "The Jimmy Kimmel Show", which we've never seen, a 13-story office building and several parking lots (see above). No date has been set for construction to begin.

I had no idea that lot had plans for redevelopment, but it's definitely a good lot to fix up. It'll definitely help the area.

^So this building (assuming it'll ever gets going) will be built around the El Cap and the Kimmel building? Does Hollywood really need more office space?

Hollywood Housing
A mixed-use residential project is springing up in the shadow of the Capitol Records building in Hollywood.

Second Street Ventures, a Marina del Rey-based residential developer headed by Adam Browning and David Jordan, has the former KFWB building at 6230 Yucca St. under escrow for close to its $6.4 million asking price. Jordan declined comment.

The partners have already discussed preliminary plans to redevelop the site at the northwest corner of Argyle and Yucca streets with the office of Councilman Eric Garcetti, whose 13th District includes the location, according to Josh Kamensky, Garcetti’s press deputy. “They have brought it to us and it’s under review at this time,” Kamensky said. “Hopefully, they will get feedback from the neighbors and come back to us.”

The 18,600-square-foot structure was built in 1934 and significantly renovated in 1974. The building sits on a roughly half-acre parcel that is mostly surrounded by office buildings and commercial uses. A busy on-ramp for the Hollywood (101) Freeway is across Argyle from the building.

The seller is Ullman Investments, an entity controlled by Grant Parking Inc. owner Steve Ullman, who is one of Hollywood’s largest landowners.

Recently, Ullman struck a deal to sell a nearly 2-acre parking lot on Vine Street to Houston-based Camden Property Trust for a mixed-use residential project and last year he sold a La Brea Avenue parking lot to John Laing Homes, which is also planning a mixed-used project.

Rob Waller and Tim Bower at CB Richard Ellis Group Inc. represented Ullman on the deal. Waller didn’t return calls and Bower declined to comment through e-mail.

I always welcome seeing the elimination of deadzones, be they in DT or Hollywood.

BTW, the big proj at the SE corner of Hollywood & Vine, where the W hotel is supposed to go, is taking a lot longer to move forward because some existing businesses will have to move (& so they're threatening to sue) & the bldgs they're in will have to be torn down.
